yeah a few ppl got in from India ED
@StanfordOrBust19 Penn doesn’t release that data, but for RD it shouldn’t be much more than a percent — RD acceptance rate is so low, and international even lower
As for the quality of applicants (self-selection), idk
@garamxmasala Really? I thought that it was significantly harder to get into Wharton
I mean acceptance rates aren’t the full story. Look at M&T for example—it’s rumored to have a 5%-6% acceptance rate, not much lower than Wharton or SEAS. But the pool of applicants are a lot smarter, more ambitious, and, quite frankly, more competitive.
M&T (and all dual-degree programs) >>> Wharton/SEAS/CAS in terms of selectivity
imo Wharton > CAS (note the one instead of three), so your shot may be greater for CAS (but don’t count on transferring)
@StanfordOrBust19 Transfering from CAS to Wharton is far, far more difficult than getting into CAS vs. Wharton so if you want to be at Wharton don’t risk it; that being said, CAS is definitely easier to get into than Wharton
Well with a deferral from Stanford REA, Wharton regular seems very unlikely hahaha. So just submitted CAS. Hopefully it works out ?
@StanfordOrBust19 Deferral Fromm Stanford is actually quite impressive! They definitely prefer to reject, unlike others (MIT, Princeton). While I don’t mean to get your hopes up, take that as a compliment.
And, a Deferred. Penn does have a Honey Grow so, naturally, I’m still bummed.
is anyone in touch with the kelly writers house and if so, what have you heard regarding if they are/aren’t “supporting” your application with admissions?
For anyone who was accepted, did your application checklist update with a new row for final grades or nah?
or a new row for Midyear reports?
Nope
Awesome, thankssss
Does anyone that was deferred see a mid-year transcript/report on the portal? I don’t
Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I would make sure to have your counselor submit your mid-year grade report to Penn through Naviance or the Common App.
The Mid-year Report didn’t show up on the Penn Portal for deferred applicants, but my counselor submitted mine through the Common App.
I did some more research to make sure that I am giving you the correct information.
Here is what I found on the FAQ link that came along with our defer letter:
“3. Will I be required to submit additional materials?
You will be required to submit a Mid-Year report to update our office on your recent academic
performance in school. Your school counselor should submit the Mid-Year Report to us through the
Common Application, the Coalition Application, or by email to documents@admissions.upenn.edu
by February 15, 2019.”
I recommend getting this information in ASAP. @stressed2019
Thank you @ZhuLing ! My RD schools received my mid-year information before that day, so hopefully Penn received it as well.
@ My fellow deferred folks, Penn decisions are out in just over 10 days after what seems like longest wait ever. How’s everyone feeling?
Look at my username haha
Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst.
