I would love some feedback on the following essay:
In 8th grade I discovered something that truly captivated me. From the first time I opened my general science textbook, I fell in love with the subject material. I loved learning about all aspects of science, from the scientific method to the foundations of geology. But one module in particular caught my attention. It was a module concerning the human body. While learning the basics of the digestive, respiratory, and nervous systems, I knew I wanted to become a doctor.
These medical aspirations have driven me to work hard throughout high school, and subsequently to apply to the University of Pennsylvania. Penns School of Arts and Sciences is an amazing place to study, especially for a pre-med student. The road to becoming a doctor is a long and difficult one, but Penns pre-med students have a number of advantages that appeal to me.
Penns academic advising system is second to none. Whether it be providing useful tips about course selection or assisting in the medical school application process, this advising system is an invaluable tool. Being a pre-med student is stressful, so having a team of experienced advisors will be very comforting.
Penn also offers incredible opportunities for pre-med students to be exposed to a broad spectrum of health professions. I look forward to taking full advantage of the various health-related resources, such as hospitals, research centers, and clinical offices on and around Penns campus. Such hands-on experiences will make a positive contribution to my medical career.
Academic success in high school has not come easy to me. Consequently, I have had to work hard for good grades. This has been a blessing in disguise. Throughout high school I have developed a work ethic that I hope will lead to future success at the University of Pennsylvania.
