Upenn Transfer fall 2010

I don’t really know what you are talking about… My entire financial aid package was in various grants. I did not receive any Stafford loans.

ooohh okay. well you might be able to get federal loans to cover some of the 10k and that way you won’t have to pay interest during school

College of Arts and Sciences, biochemistry. But if my decision to transfer will really be based on how much aid I get…

get the book. Great Essays for transfer students by Ralph Wiggams
Saved my life
Copied the essay exactly and i got in EASY.

You guys wanna share some advice with a hopefull penn transfer? I’m headed to NYU next year and hope to transfer ASAP

I think copying an essay out of a book is a terrible idea. Your essay should be personalized to your specific situation.

thestorm, the most important thing you should do is make sure that you attain high grades your first semester, and take courses that you enjoy, but also are not just easy A classes. Also, bond with your professors and go to their office hours so that you’ll have great recommendations when the time comes. Make sure you also get involved on campus next year, as well. Even though extracurrics aren’t the main things they’re going to be looking at when you’re a transfer, they still do make a difference and allow you to stand out as an applicant.

thestorm: You do understand that universities will often expel people they’ve accepted if they find out that they plagiarized their essays? If you took financial aid while you’re there, you can also go to prison for stealing financial aid money from the university. You should really confess now before your entire life gets ruined, because I do think you will eventually get found out.

FYI: It wasn’t thestorm that wrote that comment; it was wanttorelive.

I’m guessing you guys never seen The Simpsons…

wanttorelive was being sarcastic as one there is no book titled that, and two Ralph Wiggum is a fictional character

Hii hi hi!

Hopefully, will be applying as a transfer in two years as a junior applicant. Currently, I am a senior in high school.

I haven’t taken any SAT Subject Tests. Will that hurt me?

Also, my most recent SAT score was a 2050.

Specifically 650 CR 700 M 700 W

I got a 650 on CR because English is my second language. I am a Filipino immigrant who migrated to the US 5 years ago and taught myself English.

Should I retake the SATs? Will they take my background into consideration?

how difficult is it to transfer here?

Hey Everyone,

I sent in my deposit about a week ago, but I still haven’t heard anything about housing, registration for classes, etc. Does anyone know when Penn will release this info?

Thanks!

Hi everyone. I just finished my freshman year at UC-Berkeley with a 3.8~ GPA. If i were to maintain my GPA or raise it a tiny bit (maybe .5~?), what are my chances? Although Berkeley is a great institution, I think I would really like a private university over my large, public university.

Penn is also quite large.

Good luck to someone on the waitlist; I’m not accepting Penn’s offer.

Sophomore transfer accepted!
GPA: 3.82 and 4.05 in Rice U
SEAS
SAT: 2280
EC’s: nothing extremely special

On Penn’s admission page, I found that “There is no internal transferring to other schools at Penn once you matriculate.” Does that mean I cannot get dual degrees from both SEAS and Wharton?

congrats tim5168!

to my understanding, you can only matriculate to the dual degree program as a freshman, so as a transfer, you’d only enter through SEAS

also, were you accepted from the waitlist? or were you accepted on May 13th?

Hello my fellow Fall 2010 Penn transfers, are you all already registering for courses via the PennPortal or waiting on any credit evaluation/information or a notification from the advising offices?

Just wondering whether registering by myself now would be the right course of action. Thanks!

got the credits e
but arent we supposed to meet with our advisors first before we start registering for courses?
