which major were you accepted to?

Yeah, but shouldn’t we register before September… ? I got the credit evaluation too, but only for my fall semester, and I hear that transfers can file appeals for transfer evals and bring in course docs to try to gain credits.

winonanot:
erm… i applied to PPE in CAS, but then I think the acceptance letter didn’t specify which major so i should be able to declare another if i want to. within the CAS of course.

alu:
yeah i got only my first 3 sems too, probably they don’t evaluate the last one yet. but i have a question, so the “preliminary transfer sheet” is almost guaranteeing us that those are definitely transferrable credits or do we HAVE to go through the syllabi and coursework before they definitely say yes (in that case, the prelim one is almost useless, and what’s the use of appeals if all the courses aren’t denied or accepted for sure anyway? =O)

Good Q regards the process, I have no idea how it works.

“The Office of Transfer Credit and Advanced Standing examines a student’s transcripts and sends an evaluation of transferable credit approximately three weeks after the letter of admission.” from [Penn Admissions: Transfer of Credits](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/applying/credit.php)

I think we are to receive another evaluation (the preliminary transfer credit sheet appeared around a week after admission, not three). The classes that do not get approved for credits might be later open for appeals to department reps? But that’s just a guess.

I guess I’ll be calling the Admissions Office soon (seeing as I can’t find contact info for Office of Transfer Credits).

i was given the number to office of transfer credits by somebody from admissions a few days ago…its 215-898-6080

alu:
ooooo please let me know if you find out about anything! I’m an international I don’t feel like calling long distance to ask themmmmm! thankssssss! =P

hey guys im also a transfer student but i havent got my credit eval yet, can i ask if you guys found a special link online or if you received it through the mail? thanks a lot.

i received an email for my prelim credit evaluation and the link appeared on my decision portal

the email said:

Dear ,

Your University of Pennsylvania transfer credit evaluation is now available to be viewed online. Please visit our decision website at [Penn Admissions: My Online Decision](http://www.admissions.upenn.edu/decisions/) and use your UserName and Password to log in and retrieve your decision.
Please contact the transfer credit office at 215.898.6080 if you have any questions or concerns.

Regards,
Penn Admissions

It’s lovely how the Transfer Credit Office number was right there in that e-mail.
D’oh. unsaidcrap, I will try to catch them during office hours, but I am on US Central Time (+1h to Philly time) and I’m working during the week, so we’ll see!

However, see the <a href=“Web Login Service - Stale Request”>Web Login Service - Stale Request; page for now. I think this is the answer to all our queries, I am currently figuring it out.

hey thanks for the link! i haven’t seen it anywhere before…
but I got even more confused, they’re not too clear on when we should start acting on it. Some places say we should wait till orientation, but that link says as soon as we got the pennkey.
Man. I don’t get why they have to be such a pain on credits, why can’t they just approve whatever that seems alright like most other schools?! WashU gave me a slip saying how many transferrable credits I have in my welcome packet. SO much simpler.

HEY EVERYONE!!!

did you guys start signing up for classes yet??? or are we supposed to do that after orientation and meeting our advisers?

Is there a website to see which professors are good?!!

[Rate My Professors - Find and rate your professor, campus and more - RateMyProfessors.com](http://www.ratemyprofessors.com)

Did anyone sign up for classes yet???

nopeee i’m still on the CAS transfer waitlist

I think we’re supposed to wait until we are assigned an advisor to guide us with course selection.

I called yesterday and today, and three things:

1) One lady said not to upload our past syllabi and course docs onto XCAT yet because the Department reps will not begin evaluating them until August – yet, another lady today said that the docs can be started to be uploaded to XCAT. So, upload quicker just to be first in the queue for review, but don’t expect the syllabi to be evaluated until August.

2) We (CAS people) are to receive packets in mid- to late- June with our advisor assignments and further registration info. As goes for Wharton and SEAS people, see your admissions packet (back side) that you got in the first admission envelope.

It’s not recommended to sign up for classes until you are matched with an advisor who can help you prep a Fall 2010 plan. The advisors will advise us over the summer, in late June and early July or so. If you’re close to campus you can visit in person, if not you will conduct a phone appointment.

3) Transfer credits, even after prior departmental evaluations, still can be finalized once on-campus in September. Plan on bringing all your important coursework docs to Philly.

any idea when we’ll hear about housing?

alu thank you sooo much! so, in other words, the prelim one is close to being absolutely useless… ah well

i called housing the other day, the person said that they aren’t assigning rooms until June 14th (i assume we’ll get our assignment a week or two later bc the guy said they aren’t even starting to look at transfer students until then). i’m wondering if they do it in “first come first serve” order or if it’s random… anyone know?

Hey, no prob. It’s on a first-come, first-serve basis, so you are more likely to get your top-choice housing if you apply earlier. Housing for transfers isn’t even guaranteed, albeit they say they make every effort to accommodate all transfers who wish to live on campus.
