I am having a tough time deciding which of these two schools to apply early to. I like them both equally. My only weakness with my applications to both schools are my SATs (1950). Does one of these schools care more about SATs than the other? Thanks

Both schools care a good amount for SATs; however, Georgetown is on the 1600 scale, so it doesn’t consider the writing section. If you bombed the writing section, then consider applying early to GT. I never looked into GT so I can’t say much, but I know that Penn has a much much much higher acceptance rate for ED than for RD (and with Harvard and Princeton sucking away some of Penn’s ED applicant with their SCEA, Penn might be even more generous). On the other hand, GT (as of last year) was a EA but no ED school (rather than SCEA); this means while you can’t apply to ED to another school when you apply EA to GT, you can apply EA elsewhere; so if you do decide to apply to GT, consider applying to UChicago as another EA. UChicago is an amazing institution and its EA admit rate is much higher as well. Chicago is also on the 1600 scale.

GT requires an interview, and this is an opportunity for you show who you are beyond test scores. Be enthusiastic, let them know your plans for college and how you will contribute to the community (in and outside campus).
During my DD interview, the interviewer, even thought he ask about her high school activities, seems to be more interest in what her future plans were than what she did in high school.

Thanks for the help. My writing SAT score actually happened to be my highest. My critical reading is what needs work

Reading-600
Math-670
Writing-680

If you look at the Georgetown early action acceptance rate it’s actually lower than it’s regular decision. But my counselor swears early action at Georgetown gives you an advantage. Is there any advantage of applying early action at georgetown or are my odds better off applying ED to Penn and RD to georgetown to have the best shot at getting accepted at one of them?

I hate to be honest but I will - you probably need a 2100 for Gtown at least and a 2200 for Penn. Otherwise save your money.
