UPenn Waitlist Class of 2029

Guys i think i know why its taking so long, some of their students are getting off other waitlists, so theyre declining their spots at Penn. As of last week to today 7 students accepted Columbia over Upenn about 5 ish from CAS and today one of my friends also left penn CAS for columbia. All domestic though , even though im international

where did you acquire this information from? i believe many students would pick any other ivy over columbia during times like these. this question is not meant to be offensive, just curious.

This year, Columbia University has indeed made many people get off, including international students. At least in terms of the generosity of international students, we were quite surprised. There used to be very few.

they were mutuals in a gc, i met them in the us last year and we did a program there , one of them was my friend. I even advised 2 not to swap because penn is way better, especially with columbia’s drama but they still chose Columbia. They said theyd be happier in columbia

I don’t want to give any one false hope because we should all be slowly moving on to protect our peace, but I don’t think those “20 off the waitlist “ is the end. The article was made 6/13, meaning they had to have had their meeting the day before 6/12. The WL interest form was only due 6/10. I think 2 days isn’t enough for them to review all schools and admit people but this is just my two sense.

also, why would they extend the waitlist to mid July if all movement is over by mid June?

Because they need backups if anyone who has committed backs out. Which may or may not happen.

Ik this is not the best place to rant but seeing this pmo. I had Columbia for ED, deferred, then rejected in RD…I guess its because of all the drama Columbia was going through that time. A friend of mine, int’l too, got off Columbia WL. I’m not a bad person but y’all know that feeling sorta stings. Also because I was in love with Columbia. And UPenn being the last waitlist I’m on is a real roller coaster of emotions. I’m even afraid of refreshing my email, because chances are I’m not getting to Philly. Idek whass gonna happen :sob:. Sorry again

Hi there, it does suck : (

Just know that you are not alone in this long process. If not this cycle, remember transferring is always an option.

A friend got off the waitlist of Northwestern University today. The movement in some universities is still ongoing.

im not too stuck up on this waitlist because i think high hopes on any ivy league are extremely painful and unrealistic.

that being said, i’m really curious. are they planning to take NO kids from CAS at all? i also know quite a few people who left penn for columbia college. no way they dont have empty spots?

also, realistically if they dont admit international kids in the next 2 week, the waitlist at CAS will infact have 0 international kids because everyone needs enough time to issue an i20, get a visa interview appointment, get approved, and have the visa IN TIME

Have any domestic students even gotten off CALS? Maybe a couple but no more than 5 i believe.

any news?

Someone please say there is some kind of news abt an email or any insider info
