Upgrading course marks?

Because of recent course conflicts, I need to take a French course during the summer. During my search for available summer school programs, I found a few options for upgrading previous marks.

Here’s why that’s intriguing - I have a good transcript, but I have 2 B’s in freshman year which is bringing down my GPA. My public school has a scarily compressed GPA range, with #1 having a 3.71 (unweighted) and #30 with a 3.5-something. The class size is 300 or so.

So if upgrade those two B’s, that would boost my rank quite a bit, which would be fantastic since my GPA (low 3.5’s?) is hovering around the top 10% region.

The catch: I have no clue what conclusions universities might draw from seeing a junior retaking freshman courses in the summer. I imagine they won’t be very impressed.

Would it be worth the rise in rank? Since it’s just freshman year, should I just leave the marks there?

There is absolutely no reason to retake freshman classes. I do not understand how your school would even justify retaking a 9th grade course that you got a B in two years later.
