upper division class (course number 400 ~ 499) can be taken 3 or 4 credits?

<p>Why would any undergrad or graduate student want to take an upper division class for 3 credits if you can take 4 credits to get closer to graduation? </p>

<p>Undergrads take the class for 3 credits. Grad students take it for 4.</p>

<p>With some courses, the difference in credits is basically the equivalent of an additional project on top of the standard course material. It’s essentially an honors section. </p>

<p>It’s not as simple of a matter as saying “I want to to do the same amount of work for more credits.” The extra credit is reflected in the amount of work that is done. </p>
