Upper Middle Class Admissions

Is it embarrassing if an upper middle class kid doesn’t get into a top/good state school? Like we have 749338 opportunities and never have to worry about finances so there’s really no excuse not to do well?

Assumption being that the only way to do well is to go to a top school/good state school?

I know a few formerly working or middle class and now either upper middle class or upper class parents who would be very happy if their child would attend a “top 200” in-state public university and do reasonably well.

There is a wide range in terms of how kids do. They are not all headed for Ivy League or equivalent universities.
