Upperclassmen tuition at UMich?

I just heard of this term… What is upperclassmen tuition? I am out of state, and I just want to know if the tuition for the most part will stay constant.

Tuition goes up sophomore and junior years. No mystery.

Tuition goes up by roughly $2k the last two years at Michigan.

@rikofnovi More precisely, tuition goes up after 55 credits even if you are a freshmen. The increase depends on which school in UMich. OOS students at CoE need to pay ~$2500 more per semester. Ross has the second biggest increase. LSA goes up around $1500 per semester. All numbers are for OOS. In state students see a few hundred dollars less in increase per semester.

Some people actually avoid taking all their AP credits because they could make you a junior (with higher tuition) as soon what you feel is the beginning of your sophomore year. My son will become a junior in the middle of his 2nd year because of AP classes.

There are perks associated with coming in with more credits though, i.e. registration times. I hit 63 credits after my second semester here and therefore got to register for classes even befor some rising juniors.

If you want to drop some AP credits, you need to do that within the first semester of enrollment.
My D would have ~70 credits before sophomore year.
