CNN just reported dozens of UPS trucks from all over the east coast have been surrounded by mobs of 14 and 15 year-olds. No drivers have been harmed, but the teenagers seem dehydrated, their eyes are glazed-over and they are frantically rifling through the packages looking for something…

… And one of them has a shotgun in his hand. He looks especially perturbed. :)

Reports indicate that some of the idenified teens were thirteen as well.

LOL!!! Thanks for the comic relief!

Yeah, I saw some of these kids running wild around town on Saturday. The barbarians! They were running barefoot up and down my street, hadn’t showered in days, and were obviously on a 3-day caffeine high. They gathered around and started shaking the UPS truck. When they finally got inside, they heedlessly ripped apart every package with their teeth, disregarding who it was adressed to. I heard names of top schools intermittently screamed between the sounds of ripping paper and gasps of air. It was quite the spectacle. Townspeople gathered around, awaiting the release of the UPS man who was held hostage in the back of the truck by the crazy pre-teens. What a sight! Something I’ll tell my grandchildren about, for sure.

ha I think I’m the only one here who literally chased down a UPS truck!

bump bump bump bump bump!!
:D

Memphis, Tennessee (Reuters)- The United Parcel Service announced today that is leasing a fleet of armored vehicles for use beginning the weekend of March 8, 2008. The armored vehicles will sport the familiar UPS brown. UPS is taking this unusual step in anticipation of increasing incidents involving crazed teenagers attacking UPS trucks and drivers at deliveries, traffic lights, and toll booths. UPS will take the additional step of requiring drivers to work in tandem, with the second driver serving as “shotgun.” UPS is mum on whether the “shotgun” driver will be armed, but has indicated that it will outfit the armored vehicles with external loudspeakers that will play Luther Vandross, Mac Davis, Seals and Crofts and Sonny & Cher music in an effort to drive away the teens.

Laxtaxi: good humor there! But, that type of music might just attract us adults to the UPS trucks, and start another mob scene.

Last year, I featured myself a comedian when I posted this. Now that my son is applying, I might be out there chasing the truck!

this thread is hilarious. but, kind of realisitc. ;)

hahaha
this made my night!

Baseballmom, I’m there right with ya’ --chasing the truck in my rollers and nighties before d sees it coming!

That’s really funny. :)

(: (ten characters!)

That was hysterical baseballmom! It is funny how your perspective changes when you have put so much into this process. Researching, interviewing, paying for ssats and app fees. It really involves a lot of commitment from the parents as well. Plus all thos parent essays!!! I still have the middlesex one to complete!

I hate you. I was looking for an article to write about(I’m an editor for the paper and I’m given a page and I havn’t filled it yet… This was going to be my centerpiece).

My hope was just destroyed.

OMG sorryy :O

You kids are a long way from March 10! Shouldn’t you be writing essays instead of posting on cc??? :)

It’s a good thing there is still a responsible adult on this thread! Baseballmom, trust me, so many of us have been echoing exactly what you just said. And not many of us can actually find an answer as to why we’re spending our time on CC rather than on writing essays =(
