Upward trend in SAT's good?

I took two SAT’s before the October 4 one and scored 1920 on the first one and 1960 on the second one (1970 superscored). Anyways, on October 4 I scored a 2210 (240 improvement) and am beginning to change my college list. I was just wondering if the two previous scores (590 and 600 in writing to a 770 writing) would have any impact? Would colleges see that i must have studied hard in order to improve or will they take the scores for what they are? Is this similar to an upward GPA trend?

This depends on the school. UC Berkeley, for example, will take this into consideration as they have a pretty unique admissions process. UC Santa Cruz, however, will just stick in your highest test score and probably disregard your lower scores. Do some research on the school you are interested in. An upward GPA trend will be noted by the majority of schools but they would rather see high GPA all the way through, of course.

bump. my counselor talked to me about how some colleges still don’t know how much trust to put into the writing section. Now i’m hoping colleges will put a lot of trust because it can only help me.

If anything, i would imaging they’d be more impressed with a 2210 on your first try, rather than having lots of practice for it. But they will probably just take the 2210 for what it is, which is a damn good SAT score, so i wouldn’t worry about it.
