Upward Trend of Grades and Admission Chance

<p>Hi!
I am going to be a Junior at a very competitive High School in Illinois and was wondering if the trend in my grades improve my chances of getting into Cornell. I have had a pretty significant upward trend in my grades in the past two years and was wondering how I am matching up to the rest of the future Cornell Applicants.
Freshman Year: First Semester: WGPA: 4.14 UWGPA 3.42 Second Semester: WGPA: 4.28 UWGPA: 3.57
Hon World Hist - B - B
Hon Bio - B - A
Span 2 - B - A
Gym - A - A
Hon Eng 1 - B - B
IED (Hon Eng) - A - A
Hon Alg/2 Trig - A - B</p>

<p>Sophomore Year: Both Semesters: WGPA: 4.57 UWGPA: 3.85
Span 3 - A - A
AP Statistics - A - A
Hon Pre-Calc - A - A
CEA (Hon Civil Eng) - A - A
Gym - A - A
Hon Eng 2 - B - B
Hon Chem - A - A</p>

<p>I am aiming for a UWGPA: 4.0 WGPA: 4.7 during my Junior Year and have setup the schedule to my strengths with more focus in Math and Science. </p>

<p>Does the upward trend in my grades and the difficulty of the classes give me a better chance to get into Cornell? I was thinking of applying to the Engineering School to Major in Actuarial Science during my Undergraduate. </p>

<p>I have an extremely strong EC with BPA placing 2nd at Nationals twice. Also, have been an avid member of the Mu Alpha Theta, yet was a quiet member in iSTEM and Finance.</p>

<p>Thank You!</p>

<p>An upward trend does help, it shows growth. I don’t know if anybody can say it’s as good or better than having a straight 4.0 through all your years, but it is definitely good.</p>
