upward trend

My son has 35 ACT but 3.6 GPA, His junior grades were mainly A and A- with one B (89%) on mostly AP and honor classes. The reason, I believed, was due to his undiagnosed ADHD in freshman and sophomore years. I read past posts on getting the school counselor to explain in the recommendation letter. Do admission officer even look into the upward trend? How do we highlight it besides the counselor letter and the additional info in common apps?

I’m following, as my daughter is quite similar. 35 ACT, and 3.7 weighted GPA. Sophomore year was terrible, partly due to her disability, and partly due to some significant family issues that happened at the time. It has all been upward trend since. We plan to chat with her guidance counselor about what, if any, information to share.

I think they would look at an upward trend…if you think about it, your son is showing he can do better now in more difficult classes, showing he is now ready for college classes.
