Upward trend??

Hi. I really had a horrible 8th and 9th grade.
I heard Yale focuses a lot on gpa and class rank.
I go to a very competitive public school in california (15+ kids to ivies each year).
Will my 8th and 9th grade gpa kill my chance?
Or will the upward trend somewhat save it?

You’re safe. Colleges will usually take work that you did as a 16 or 17 year old as a better indicator of your performance than work done as a 13 or 14 year old. And, as long as your SAT scores are within range, then you’re all set.
