I am in the top 10% of my class, 97.31 GPA (I think it’s weighted. My school only lists one GPA on my transcript), and 1840 on my SAT. My SAT should go up within the next month because I’m retesting, hopefully rising to around 2040. I have taken 4 AP exams (Human Geo 5, Spanish Lang 4, English Lang 4, US History 4), and I am taking 5 this year.

So far my top college choice colleges are Dickinson, Elon, and F&M. I really love all three schools, but I want to apply to some more colleges in urban settings. I want to stay on the east coast, and between Vermont and North Carolina. The college also needs to offer Anthropology with an archaeology program, a great network of alumni, and extensive study abroad opportunities. I would prefer that the colleges suggested are private institutions if they are outside of PA because I only receive in state tuition in PA.

OP, why are you starting over again?

SUNY Binghamton, Fordham, NYU, SUNY Stony Brook, Syracuse, SUNY Albany, Rochester, NC State, UMiami, William & Mary, UVA, George Mason, and American. Each school will offer only some of the sub-fields of anthropology. Archaeology can also be studied in Art History departments. W&M is very good in all three areas of your interest, as is UVA, but it is a public, as are UVA and GMU. Compare their OOS costs to other schools before you say no. Penn, too, is superb, but outside of your grasp unless something unexpected happens to the SAT. The publics of the State Universities of NY might be your least expensive option of all of these. For archaeology and anthro, I’d put any of these over F&M, Dickinson, or Elon.

You seem to be interested in LACs or small universities.
If you want an urban LAC in the northeast, have a look at Trinity College in Hartford.
It’s urban, it’s private, it’s a LAC, and it has an anthropology program.
It should be a high match for your stats (especially if your scores go up).

I can’t speak to the quality of Trinity’s anthropology department. The department only has 5 professors (one visiting, one currently on leave). Another urban coeducational LAC in the northeast that might be within reach for your stats is Sarah Lawrence College. Unfortunately, there aren’t too many others that fit all those criteria. If you’re willing to look outside the northeast, check out Beloit (good rep for anthro) … or (if your scores go up a bit) Colorado College and Macalester (~urban LACs).

According to National Science Foundation data, alumni of the following LACs earned the most PhDs in Anthropology from 2003-2012:
