Have you made arrangements to take the SSAT? Most US boarding schools will also take the ISEE. If you are an older applicant and have taken the SAT or the PSAT, then most schools will accept these scores.

Do you plan to visit schools? This will strengthen your application. If you visit, you should know that most US boarding schools have a 3 week March vacation, and it is not always the same 3 weeks.

It is my understanding that most boarding schools will take a late application. At the most competitive schools, your application will most likely go to to a waitlist if they are interested in you.

If you go to [Boarding School Review - College-Prep & Jr. Boarding Schools](http://www.boardingschoolreview.com), you will find schools that have rolling admissions after March 10th. You can contact the schools that interest you to find out if they will take a late application. Some schools have an application deadline of Feb. 1st. If any of those schools interest you and you have your testing and recommendations in line, you can ask if you can submit a late application into the regular admit pool. If the school has a high admit rate, then they might agree to this.

From following these boards, these are schools that I remember discussions about taking late applications: Loomis Chaffee, Blair Academy, the Hill School, Kent, Pomfret, Northfield Mt. Hermon, Mercersburg, and Berkshire. I think there are many more possibilities.

Because you need to move quickly into an unknown territory, you and your family might consider hiring an educational consultant who specializes in secondary school placement. These people usually know which schools have openings, and often are known by admissions people. You can find a list of consultants here [Find Educational Consultants – Boarding School Review](Find Educational Consultants) It would be best to hire someone who specializes in academic boarding schools, not therapeutic schools and not colleges.

In addition to this discussion board, boardingschoolreview and boardingschools.com are the best resources I have found for researching boarding schools. Sometimes the number on boardingschoolreview have not been updated.

If you are an international applicant applying for financial aid, then I don’t know how much luck you will have. It is difficult for international applicants to get financial aid during the regular application cycle.
