Haven’t seen the movie yet. H & I saw the play on Broadway. He did NOT enjoy it. Refuses to see the movie. I love ABBA.

Saw the movie after friends said how great it was. It was not great, but was such an “over the top” musical, you can’t help but laugh and like it. The fact the Pierce can’t sing just adds to mystique.

I even bought the soundtrack because I like the abba songs. Pierce sings much better on the soundtrack, as it is not actual songs as performed in the movie.

Lord, if they could have lipsync’d him to better singing, why on earth didn’t they? It was pretty tortured every time he had to sing, and the second half of the film he sang a LOT.

I’ve know Meryl Streep could sing since Postcards from the Edge.

The thread connecting the songs to the “plot” got thinner as the movie progressed. I went in with low expectations, expecting to be entertained, and that worked for me.

My H loved the play, but I advised him against the movie after D and I saw it. I loved the scenery, but disappointed in the rest.

Haven’t seen Bottle Shock, but H saw it and loved it!

Two words: Time Bandits.

Only movie we ever walked out of.

Back to Mamma Mia! I loved the play, which I attended with another mom and two 14 year old girls. Big hit with all of us.

If the movie plays like play that’s been filmed a la The Producers, I wouldn’t be interested. In either case, hubby would stay home!

And before I forget, even I couldn’t take The English Patient. I wanted to scream “die already!”

It was hilarious when Seinfeld wrote an English Patient storyline into one of their episodes.
