Urgent need Chicago Hospital ER- can anyone help

My sister is living in Chicago and needs to go to the ER ASAP. Unfortunately she has a health plan with limited choices. I I believe the following hospitals are in her plan. Her plan is changing on November 1 and will include Northwestern and other centers. But until now these are her choices (I hope I got the names almost correct- horrible connection when I spoke with the insurance company):
University of Illinois Medical
Present St. Mary Elizabeth
Mercy Hospital
St. Anthony

Her health insurance is BCBS-PPO. She has a terrible infection in her eyes and some swelling in her hands and feet.

Thank you!

I would go with U of Illinois. Mercy would be choice #2.
I am an ER doc formerly from Chicago but no longer living there, my bias is toward teaching hospitals. So take my opinion with that caveat.

Assume you mean U of Illinois at Chicago? Definitely the strongest hospital - but I suspect she might wait much longer.

Yes, I believe it is in Chicago. 1740 West Taylor Street.

Does she have a regular doctor? If so, maybe the regular doctor’s office, if they can see her today, would be the right place.

U of I, if she isn’t already somewhere.

Peacefulmom. Hope your sis has been able to get the medical attention she needs. {{{{ }}}s to you.

Sorry I saw this so late. Agree with others… U of Illinois/Chicago because it’s a teaching hospital. Northwestern would have been a first choice, but its wait times can be really long if you’re not in dire crisis. I expect there will be a wait at U of Illinois, too.

Thank you all so much for your help. She is at U of I and has seen the triage nurse and is waiting to be seen by the additional medical team. It is at times like this that I am so thankful for CC.
