!!Urgent question: Creative or straightforward? And length?

On the Freshman Questionnaire, are they looking for short, straightforward responses or longer, creative essays or either?

…that email with the survey they sent out? Short and sweet, probably, I doubt they want to read more essays.

your hair should be creative and of short length. if you are asian, there are thousands of other females with long straight black hair. therefore, think of using accessories and layering or something.

Neither, they should be meaningful!

Does this thing even affect admissions?

Wait, I didn’t get this. Was it sent to all applicants?

wait I don’t get this either. I only remember getting a survey from them which asks you to check boxes and stuff…where do they want you to give written responses?

I have a question about this too. Who do they send this “freshman questionnaire” to? I didn’t get one.

They only send it to some people who either: 1.) have a special talent that they would like more info about 2.) have some type of disability or 3.) are borderline for admission in general. I’m not 100% sure about these categories, but I think that’s what some people have surmised. I know the 1st one, at least, is true because all the questions on mine were related to the “special talent” I talked about on my application.

Oh, that thing. I’ve helped a few of my friends with theirs, and they also got into UCLA/UC Berkeley afterward. So far, all my fiends have written straight forward responses. I think they just want to know more about your unique trait, whatever it is. I’m not saying u can’t write it creatively, but I’ve only seen straight forward so far.

Yeah, I ended up making mine pretty straightforward. I mean, they were thoughtfully-written and perhaps a little creative, but nothing fancy.

Also, is it strange that I got one of these from Berkeley but not UCLA?

So it’s perfectly okay if I didn’t get one, right? I’m out-of-state, by the way.

Yeah, it’s perfectly fine if you didn’t. It means you’re already accepted or rejected, I think. In your case, probably the former. :)

What do you mean by “already accepted or rejected?” So if you didn’t get this Freshman Q, you’re rejected? Or they haven’t made a decision yet?

I don’t expect one from Berkeley, but I thought I had a good shot at UCLA. I’m so nervous, this sucks…
