I was wondering if putting down on my college app that I can dunk a basketball would benefit me in the admission’s process. Not many people can do this, so I think I would stand out as an applicant.

Any thoughts?

I was wondering if putting down on my college app that I can dunk a basketball would benefit me in the admission’s process. Not many people can do this, so I think I would stand out as an applicant.

Any thoughts?

LOLOLOL

i don’t think it would help.

Depends how tall you are ?

lmao, thats great. Almost as good as the “i have a high IQ, should i put that on my application?”

Unless you are trying to be recruited, no.

lol, wat r u talking about?

like everbody can dunk by their senior year unless ur athletically challenged or somethin.

Unless you’re being recruited for the BBall team, it will have no effect. Why should it? It’s the equivalent of saying you bagged a 15 lb. catfish at summer camp. It has the same effect on your fellow students and college community. None.

And if you are being recruited, you better have game all around, not just the dunk.

Regardless, good luck w/your search and app process.

EDIT: Of course, if you’re female, then that’s another thing. Call the athletic dept immediately. You can write your own ticket!

No, I’m a dude.
But on the plus side, I am white, 6’ 3" 220 pounds

Also, I being able to dunk is not just a one time thing (fish example). It took me considerable time before I could dunk.

This is the same thing as playing an instrument. Years of practice. Not everyone can play the trombone perfectly, just like not many people can dunk.

With how many hands? Are we talkin a Vince Carter 360 crossover slam…or a Larry Bird girlyman dunk?

I’ve been practicing the 360, but for now I can do one handed and two handed regular dunks. Also I can lob it off the backboard and jam it home!

lmao this is the dumbest conversation ever.

haha yea seriously…do you honestly expect to get ahead in college admissions because you can dunk???

uh oh…it’s the CC pretentious department to the rescue!

HYPS - In!

are you going to be on the BBall team?

i don’t think that will help you. say you are a stellar basketball athelete
…are you good at basketball?

consider yourself a shoe-in at HYPS

GVM: I don’t think your question is dumb. It seems to be a sincere inquiry. My thought is that dunking ability in and of itself isn’t that useful unless it’s one of your tools as an all around good basketball recruit. What do your coaches say about you? Are you a leader? Do you enhance your team (or are you a prima donna, or a ball hog?)? Do you work hard in areas you’re weak? Have you peaked? How do you handle yourself in tough games. Have you really contributied to your team and school environment. Even very useless players can eventually learn how to dunk if they have the physicality to do so. Your coaches will be frank (he’s got a strong jumper, great in the paint, needs work on stamina, etc.).

Is it important? Only if it’s part of your overall athletic potential. The fact that you can dunk means close to nothing outside of that context. Frankly, it might seem to be “reaching” to place that on your app or resume.
