A recipe for hot cereal requires 1/2 cup of dry cereal to be mixed with 3/4 cup of milk. By mistake,3/4 cup of dry cereal was mixed with 1/2 cup of milk. What fraction of milk of a cup of milk should be added to the mixture so that the ratio of cereal to milk will be the same as required by the recipe?

I would look at this question and think the recipe calls for 2/4 cereal and 3/4 milk.

He put in 3/4 of a cup of cereal by mistake, which is 50% more than the original.
Therefore he would need 50% more milk which would would be (4.5)/4 of a cup of milk.

He put in 2/4 of a cup already, so he needs to add (2.5)/4 more.
That is 25/40, which reduces to 5/8 of a cup milk.

So he needs to add 5/8 more.

^^Agreed, although I would have looked at 4.5 / 4 as 9/8.

Ok thanks

Today I had the sat exam
math was alright but the writing was’t good
