Many summer programs ask for recommendations from a math teacher. Does a computer science teacher (who also teaches algebra- whose algebra class I’ve never had) count as a “math” teacher?

I don’t think my calc teacher can write a really good recommendation letter…

My guess is that they want to examine your performance in a math class. So even though your computer science teacher teaches math, he/she doesn’t know what you’re like in a math class. You could perhaps email or call the summer programs to clarify.

As far as I know, CompSci is pretty math intensive but I could be wrong since I have yet to take a class in that field. I agree with yawn in calling the program and asking.
