Urichmond V.S Franklin&Marshall

I’m having a hard time choosing which school to go to.
Urichmond is in Virginia and it has a great business school, ranked 12th in US news.
I am interested in this major. But I am worried about the location of this college, although Virginia has a very good weather, it’s internship opportunity may be less than that of the F&M. F&M is in pennsylvania, it near to DC, NY…
Beside major in business, I am interested in all subjects of Arts.

I want to know some information about major, internship opportunity, club activities, dorms and food.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Lancaster, PA, where Franklin and Marshall is located, is an attractive but fairly rural location in the middle of Amish country, without a lot of public transportation options. I wouldn’t call it convenient to either NYC or DC; Philadelphia is about an hour away by car, if you have a car. Richmond is a decent-sized city, and the state capital, big enough to provide internship opportunities for U of Richmond students. Richmond is about 2 hours from Washington DC and is well-served by train service and has a busy airport.

Exactly what the person above said. F&M is not in a position to give you any advntage in getting internships, whereas Richmond has many corporations based just miles from UR. I would say UR is a no brainer her, unless it is significantly more expensive than F&M.

This is a dated thread and the OP has no doubt made a choice by now, but I think a correction is in order regarding the statement that Lancaster, PA and F&M have few public transportation options. Lancaster is located on the former mainline of the Pennsylvania Railroad and Amtrak’s Keystone Service provides frequent, relatively inexpensive and quick service to Philadelphia. The Amtrak station is about a mile from F&M and the trip from Lancaster to 30th Street Station takes a little less than an hour. Direct service from Lancaster to NYC takes about 2 1/2 hours. The F&M Shuttle also provides service to the airports at Harrisburg, Philly and Baltimore during breaks.

Lancaster may be relatively small (metro area of 500,000) but it is not particularly isolated.

The two metro areas should be about equal in internship opportunities. There are well over 1 million people within 45 minutes of F&M (including Harrisburg, the state capitol and the metro area of York County), and you are one hour from the edge of a metro area with 4 million people. Both are accessible by AMTRAK to many other cities.

My limited knowledge is that Richmond has more of a specialization in business than F&M. I think of F&M more for pre-med, pre-law and the sciences.

I believe F&M fills up a large percentage of their class each year with binding early decision, so the regular decision round is probably harder.
