Disgusting, huh?

You left off the next paragraph:

I would expect the students in Parrish, especially Parrish East, to make a clear statement of expected community standards in a way that is decidedly uncomfortable for any meatheads known to have been drinking on Sunday night. Wouldn’t surprise me to see that meeting carried over to the Dean’s office on Monday.

I am glad to hear that they will be addressing the issues of the recent incidents. That is very good.

While the urination by some students on other students’ laundry is disturbing…

I was more concerned with the other incident in the article of an older male who was an intruder in two different girls’ dorm rooms and one included theft. The article explains that while their rooms were unlocked (not a good thing to do), that the public has access/entry into that dorm due to other offices in the building. This would really disturb me in terms of safety. This guy had been seen in the building several times, and inside two dorm rooms. Far worse could have happened to students by intruders. I would think that any dorm would require a card swipe or key to gain entry thus cutting down on intruders from outside the student body. That doesn’t mean that other students can’t be a threat but at least it cuts out those who don’t belong in dorms.

My D’s dorm at Brown requires a card entrance. My D’s dorm at NYU has major security (it is NYC after all) where every person must pass security with an ID that they are a resident of that dorm. Every guest must be signed in and out and be accompanied by the dorm resident as part of that procedure. Even with THAT in place, my D had her wallet stolen from her dorm suite one night when she stupidly must not have locked the door, this semester. It likely was another dorm resident (it is a huge dorm with over 1000 students). So, if that can happen amongst students, imagine if a dorm let in anyone from the community to roam the halls looking for unlocked doors and whatever else. Not a safe situation. I am glad they will now examine that incident as well and see how they can tighten up security in that dorm.

PS…perhaps they should test the DNA of the urine! J/k

Our leaders/professionals of the future? Scary!

Tookie…basically as most of us know, there are poorly behaved students at any university…be it Duke, Swarthmore, or my own kids’ schools.

Probably was a lacrosse player, don’t you think?

So now we have the urinators at Swat, the feces spreaders and window defecators at Williams, and the vomit eaters at Princeton.

Maybe the schools should have new mascots. ;)

A commode would work for all three. Different colors, maybe. Purple, garnet, black and orange…

Don’t forget the death-eaters at Hogwarts. Wait…

<…basically as most of us know, there are poorly behaved students at any university…be it Duke, Swarthmore, or my own kids’ schools.>

I know; that’s why it’s so scary. Every time you open a newspaper or turn on the TV, there’s something else.

I don’t see why parents and students paying 45 grand a year (or the income equivalent) should have to put up with this crap (sorry for the double meaning). If students think this if fun, let 'em go to Muskogie State (where the administration will be far, far less forgiving.) It’s not like being asked to leave one of these august institutions is the end of the world - they aren’t being thrown in jail or anything. Tell students when they enter that destroying other people’s property, or the college’s property, is an honor code violation akin to stealing, and if you do, you’re gone. No muss no fuss, no administrative “sanctions” necessary.

They should be given a second, or third, or fourth chances. It’s called “high school”. If you did this at your workplace, you think someone would give you “another chance”?

“Far worse could have happened to students by intruders. I would think that any dorm would require a card swipe or key to gain entry thus cutting down on intruders from outside the student body.
Agree absolutely. The other dorms at Swat that I am familiar with require swipe cards to get in. This is obviously a breach of security, and they are lucky that nothing worse happened.

As to the urination incident, that is disgusting, and I hope they catch the person who did it, although that would be difficult.

Maybe it was the intruder?

Why do men behave this way…its like dogs marking territory…pathetic

I think it was the chess club.

“They should be given a second, or third, or fourth chances. It’s called “high school”. If you did this at your workplace, you think someone would give you “another chance”?”

Yes, if an employee had a reason, they could get a second chance. It’s called “rehab”.

I have been employed in organizations large and small for almost 40 years. I have never - ever - anywhere, at any time, in any sector, heard of a “rehab” program for property destruction, and my professional work is planning rehab services for 50,000 people, and sit on national committees helping to plan rehab services for the nation.

Is there something I don’t know?

Personally, I think they should spend a night or more in jail, or have their sentences suspended (but NOT erased through diversion or deferral), but I would prefer colleges take their responsibility to their other students seriously.

mini: I agree that property damage is a separate issue, but my guess is that the the perpetrator was under the influence of a substance that reduces inhibitions and increases urine output, and could ask for help.

I’m trying to figure out the female equivalent of the use of urinating as a weopen of mass destruction!

I have not heard this much talk of peeing and pooing that I have read about on CC lately since I was in parent playgroups with toddlers! :D

“I’m trying to figure out the female equivalent of the use of urinating as a weopen of mass destruction!”

That’s the women dropping “bombs” out the windows at Williams (there is program there called “Window at Williams”- it has now taken on new meaning. ;))

Mini, I had no idea the talk of feces in your prior posts regarding Williams was related to women. In all these cases, it is disturbing and frankly, until I read CC, I had never heard of all these pubilc fluid attacks and soiid bombings with college kids…just the two year old set! I’ll admit my naivety or that I travel in circles where I don’t know any kids who do this.
