With a 3.35 GPA, your entire list ranges from reach to unrealistic reach. The only possible exception is Texas if your class rank is within the automatic admission zone (top 6% or 7% or whatever), in which case it is a safety (but not necessarily for your major).
GPA is the most important factor in any application. I’d add TAMU to your list, but it is still a reach.
What are the last two years’ GPA breakdowns in your ‘upward trend’? Do you have any leadership roles/family commitments outside of school? Do you have close, positive relationships with the teachers who wrote your recommendations? What major are you applying to? Do any other ‘hooks’ (low-income, first generation college student, child of immigrants, etc.) apply to you? Did anything other than your own aptitude and motivation negatively impact your grades or test scores?
The schools on your list are highly selective, and look for students that are prepared to meet intense intellectual challenges and shoulder heavy workloads while still making headline-worthy accomplishments on their own time. If that doesn’t come across in your application, you won’t be seriously considered. The questions above help admissions officers understand lower scores in context, and can sometimes excuse them.
Note that Texas public universities use class rank in lieu of GPA for most admission things. Most of them do list their automatic admission criteria on their admission web sites, so you should be able to find one that is an admission safety based on your rank and test scores.
However, since most admission spots are taken by automatic admission applicants, they may be reaches for applicants who are not within the automatic admission criteria. Also, some majors may be more selective than the school overall.
Was there a reason for your GPA being so low? Like family crisis, health concerns, etc.? If so, you may have a shot at the colleges you mentioned.
Your list is really not properly balanced. Did you discuss this with your high school counselor or a friend or family member you know who might be able to provide advice?
UCs are not allowed to take race into consideration for admissions. And you are OOS with a very low GPA so Berkeley and UCLA are massive reaches.
Never say never.
Elite private universities have a great deal of discretion in admitting applicants. Your solid ACT score and URM status–along with strong essays and recommendations–might be enough to get you in the door at one of your private reach schools. The odds are against it, but that’s precisely why these are “reach” schools.
Hopefully, you have applied (or will apply) to some match and safety schools.
