My GPA is bad bc freshman/sophomore grades. However it has increased substantially over JR year, ending w. a 4.0 second semester Jr. year. I’ve always taken all-honors/AP. My AP Classes I took Jr. Year are AP US History, AP Physics B, AP Psych

Could I get into Yale specifically if I EA?

Hmm, I’ve studied several hundred of applicants for Wharton ED. However I haven’t really looked at anyone from Yale.

I’d say that the same trend would probably apply though.

Usually Blacks can get in with lower SATs than yours (I’ve seen some get into Wharton with 1800/1900s. Wharton is more exclusive as well.)

However 3.3 uw GPA is very low for their standards, and is even relatively low for most URMs that are admitted to Ivys.

I’d say that your low GPA(–), slight above average SAT compared to other URM applicants(+), and URM status(+), cancels each other out.

The outcome of your application will come down to your ECs, essays and recs.

A great way to get an even better feel is to look at the preexisting Official Yale EA Results threads and see what other students have gotten accepted with.

Just apply. I think you have a chance.

Apply, but make sure you have safties. Ivies are always a crapshoot, and it’s good to have affordable options . Going 6 figures in debt is not good.

You’ll have to explain your gpa but you can shore up your upward trend with good SAT subject test scores.

Good Luck!

^ I had mono throughout Sophomore year. How do I explain that?

You can weave it into any essays, req’d or optional. There is usually a space to “add anything” that will help your application.

But the best proof that you are a better student now is good SAT subject test scores.
