I just finished Sanford J. Brown’s Book “Getting into Medical School” in which he talks about a service offered by the AAMC called the Medical Minority Applicant Registery. This allows schools searching for specific minority applicants to search through a database provided by the AAMC. This would be great for me, as I am 1/4 Muskogee (Creek) Native American, a sufficient amount to claim that as my race. However; I can’t seem to figure out what type of documentation is required. Unfortunately, I cannot prove that I am Native American, as my grandmother’s birth certificate burnt down in the twenties… though I may be able to prove there was a fire  . Anyways, my dad says that they are probably so eager for minority applicants that I’d be okay, as long as there was no suspicion, (like if I looked completely white, which I don’t, I’m very tan even by Florida standards, and I have the characteristic nose and high cheekbones).

If anyone has any information for me it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I wouldn’t like anyone thinking that I’m using my heritage merely for a break, and that I’ve never thought twice of it before now. I have always considered myself Native American, and been expecially proud of my geneology. (sorry to add that disclaimer, someone on this forum accused me of the above about a year ago.)
