UROP summer fellowship program

I am a transfer student who starts at UMich Fall 2011 and i am considering the UROP community college summer fellowship program this summer. I know the deadline is April 1st for applications. I live outside of 60 miles from Ann Arbor, so they say they will cover housing…does that come out of my stipend research payment. will food be covered? I will be contacting them about it but wanted to see if anyone with personal experience could tell me what they thought about it.

Has anyone experienced UROP??

thanks in advance.

Worked for UROP before but not through this specific program:

[Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program | The University of Michigan](http://www.lsa.umich.edu/urop/summer/fellowship/communitycollegefellowship)

They’ll probably cover housing, but only for 10-12 weeks for research. Confirm with the UROP office. Food will not be covered.

The UROP experience differs from person to person. It kindof has to do with whether or not you can find a good professor [really look into the list of profs and talk a lot during interviews] to work with and simply if you find your work fun and challenging. I personally had a lot of fun and learned a lot.
