How concerned are you about this? Do you have family in any of the affected areas? Would you be concerned about travel to other parts of the world because of this?

Also, are you reading it as the embassies and consulates are closing just for Sunday? The wording is a bit unclear to me.

GolfFather, I looked at that and was surprised that these latest closings weren’t mentioned and that some of the countries weren’t listed on the site you posted. Even looking here [Country Specific Information](<a href=“404 - Page Not Found”>404 - Page Not Found) at some of the countries with closures today, there is nothing at all posted. I would be very upset if I was planning to go to one of these countries, looked at the specific country, and saw no mention of today’s activity.

Note that there’s a difference between a “Warning” and an “Alert” and they’re on different lists. It would be more helpful if all info about any country was on the same page.

I’m trying to keep calm. My son is flying long distance (NJ to Tokyo, 14 hours in the air) in a few weeks. This same son was on United Airlines flight 93 in August, 2001 (the flight that crashed in Stonycreek, PA on 9/11 a month later). I know his route is not near the “target” area, but I’m still more nervous than I’d like.

My sister, 15-year-old niece, and 18-year-old nephew just flew through Nairobi and are in Malawi for two weeks. The government warnings were issued after they left on Thursday. Kenya was included, but not Malawi. I’m trying not to be nervous! If my sister finds out, she will probably freak out.

I’m not traveling nor is anyone in my family, but I have a feeling our government is damn concerned about this or they wouldn’t be taking all the action they are. This could be big. Hopefully it will be nothing.

My mom is taking a domestic flight on Friday and sunday, and my mother in law is leaving for Ireland today. I wish they werent traveling but am glad they are not going to Africa or the Middle East. I am trying not to think about it. I want everyone home where they belong.

I’m glad everyone in my family is home right now. I wonder when they make this huge announcement if it foils the plans, makes them hold off, or more determined to see it through. I just glanced at the news (I’m on hiatus right now) and saw 15 were killed in Iraq - sadly, that’s such a common occurrence I don’t know if it’s related.

Imagine the stuff going on we don’t ever hear about.

I was coming back from an off site in midtown and I saw a random black duffle bag on the sidewalk, with no one near it. It was about 2 blocks from Penn Station. I took out my phone and by the time I unlocked it and found the number I’d put in my phone (under S for Say Something), a young man came out of a parked car to claim it.

My husband is in Afghanistan through February 2014. One of our sons arrived in Malawi today. He will be returning to the United States in a few weeks.
