Quite frankly, I don’t know why students are surprised post- graduation. If DeVry lived up to its claims, they wouldn’t have so many commercials begging people to come.
The whole for profit university thing is a big scam in many cases. Devry was basically a trade school that decided it was a ‘university’, and others of these schools like University of Phoenix and the like may not be very much better from what I can tell. These schools often trade on the kids who don’t have the grades, from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, who can get federal aid and loans, and then give them basically a worthless education.
Years ago I worked with a programmer that went to Devry. He was hands down the best programmer in our department. When getting a degree from a for profit college I think it depends on the individual.
