US High School Senior needing SAT score submission advice

Currently applying to McGill as an international student coming from a US High School and I have questions about SAT score submissions.

I scored a 1420 (720 RW and 700 M) and want to apply for Comp Sci which has entry requirements of 700 for both sections. I have a 4.0 unweighted GPA and have taken 8 AP classes total in which I have passed with a score of 3 or above in each (still have to take the test for the 3 I am taking this year). My school also doesn’t do student rankings.

I’m trying to figure out whether I submit my SAT score or not, given that it is right on the cutoff point and might hurt my chances of getting admitted. Does anyone have some insight?

If anyone has some recommendations for the major entrance scholarship that would be amazing (especially regarding the personal letter of reference since I don’t really know how to start on that).

If McGill states this as a requirement, then you must submit your scores to be considered for admission to the program.

Yes, however they are test optional this year so if I don’t submit your scores they look at grades and classes instead. The 700 and 700 scores would be the threshold if I do submit them (though it is subject to change since those were last year’s cutoffs).

I see. Then, as an opinion, I believe you should submit your scores. McGill will look at your grades and classes in either case, and your section results are desirably neat in relation to McGill’s threshold.

You might ask admissions what % submits. Often times it’s 70%+ which means it’s not optional.

Bonus points if they share admit rate by submit vs not. Not sure they’ll provide but ask or flat out ask for their direction. Most won’t give but some will and as a Canadian school I don’t know how they’ll handle.

But ask the source.

Submit. You’re overthinking it.
