US History: Amsco or REA

AMSCO is god for AP and SAT II’s

I used REA and Crash Course and got a 5 without a problem, but I’ve heard that AMSCO is pretty awesome.

Out of curiosity, how long is amsco?

sparknotes. I’m presenting a third option :). Get the Power Pack, a bunch of the questions were word for word on the notecards.

The main difference between #3 and #4 is that #3 is more recent; it was published in 2010 while the other was published in '09.

Also, you can buy it cheaper from Barnes and Noble’s website, for $8.60: [AP U.S. History Crash Course (REA), Larry Krieger, Book - Barnes & Noble](<a href=“Online Bookstore: Books, NOOK ebooks, Music, Movies & Toys | Barnes & Noble®”>Online Bookstore: Books, NOOK ebooks, Music, Movies & Toys | Barnes & Noble®)

Apparently Amsco is the winner, but I had both the REA books

The big one is reallyyyyy thick… but it doesn’t miss anything, thats more for learning, not review (although it has a ton of practice exams)

Crash Course, as said, is super helpful, and it gets right to the point. The book is pretty small, so you can read it in a matter of days.

(p.s.~ one of my friends who got a 5 swears by “APUSH in a box”! i think thats by Kaplan, but theyre notecards)

For those who have used the AMSCO book to prep, did you guys all purchased it online? Did anyone purchased it at local barnes & nobles, borders, etc?

Does that make a difference?

It doesn’t matter where you purchase it as long as you get the right one lol. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t find it at any of the local bookstores around me. But if you can, pick it up there and save the shipping!

@ 082349 I’m asking because I really want to get my hands on it as soon as possible. Online shipping takes like 3-5 days.

That’s not very long. I’m an international. It takes 6 weeks to arrive from Amazon, but 1 week to arrive from another online store.

is there another place to get amsco, other than the publishing site itself?

@years: Check out some of the previous posts in this thread. ;)

lol makin him work? i don’t see it either… cept for the fact that it can’t be found anywhere but online? is this true?

rea.

but this site is better than both for practice tests.

[AP US History | AP Exam Review Course](http://www.apexamreview.com/)

AMSCO and Crash Course ftw

My APUSH teacher forced our class to use REA (the lengthy, as in 500±page AP review book) to study for the AP exam, and it didn’t help me at all. It was long and unnecessarily descriptive, and the way the information was formatted made it hard for me to remember.
And I second benhpark re Crash Course.

Well, this is a little known site that I’m sure you haven’t heard of. But I went to it, did a search, and found the book!
