US News undergrad engineering rankings

Can someone who is a member post the latest rankings so I don’t have to pay… thanks

It’s only $15!

go look it up in the local book store. you don’t even need to buy it.

you really want me to pay $15 when someone who already has it could easily copy and paste it? jeez… just kidding… But i have looked online and the only rankings i could find were from several years ago and i was just looking for someone who knew a place to get 2006/07 rankings. Appreciate it…

Do you have rankings for computer science?

There aren’t any undergraduate rankings for CS.

O, ok. Thanks.

is OSU on the chemical engineering list further down and if so what number?

The USNWR only rates the top 20 to top 25 in the Engineering specialties. I chose to cutoff at the top 20 in the couple of cases where the USNWR went beyond 20. For Chem-E, the USNWR listed the top 25 (the three chools tied at #25), and OSU was not one of them. Here are the remaining 7 listed on the USNWR Chem E rankings.

Rice University

Texas A&M University–College Station

Johns Hopkins University

Virginia Tech

North Carolina State University–Raleigh

University of Notre Dame

University of Virginia

damnit…they r probly poorly ranked…

Yeah, OSU sucks! LOL!!! Seriously, I would not get to caught up in the rankings game. OSU’s college of Engineering is well regarded and its grads do well in the market place. Keepthat GPA high and the rest will take care of itself.

i don’t know if that ranking is old, but some schools I went to their specific engineering website and saw that they are ranked among top 20 in some majors but didn’t see here.

Those are the latest ranking according to the USNWR. They were published in late August, 2006. The next rankings of undergraduate programs should be out in August of 2007. Either the website was showing old rankings or, just as likely, those were graduate rankings you saw. They do not fluctuate that widely, but they do fluctuate.

As Alexandre points out one can get too caught up in undergrad rankings. Each student needs to look at the college as a whole and then at the major to see which offers the best fit. Small colleges with only undergrad programs such as Mudd and Rose can provide equal to or better experiences–small classes, great teachers, and good research opportunites that might only be afforded to upper classmen at bigger or “name” places. A lot of the undergrad curriculum is similiar at all schools in order to met ABET standards. See which school inspires you to learn and has the other things that make you happy --weather, location, other intersts and cost.

True. On the other hand, Northwestern now has a pretty unique (and demanding) introductory curriculum in which freshmen learn to integrate concepts from several areas to solve problems and work on projects given by real industry clients.

Maybe unique. Sounds like what Olin has been doing and what a number of colleges (even some not so well known) try to do now.

I don’t mean it as the only one, just different from most. Actually, NU started a pilot program in 1997, the year Olin was founded.
