Just wondering if any HC peeps can answer this for me… Presto, Boston, Mycow, ect.

While civic participation is a good thing, considering the US Open drips with $$$ and that the corporate villiage will be housed on HC’s campus, is HC getting and $ benefit from this? Free use of the golf course for students in the future, $$$ for financial aid, possibly free tickets, ect?

If someone can ask Tommy T, I’d be curious.

I imagine the $ to redo the fields should be enough to cover for parking privileges. The US Open is a huge corporate event and HC is the only venue in walking distance from Merion. It would be interesting to know what is the going rate to rent out Founders (or Ryan gym, the DC, Magill, field house, the campus center, any # of greens for tents…) for corporate receptions… would make for an interesting investigative article for the Bi-co or just an intellectual exercise in “money, monopolies and marketing”. :)

I actually just spoke to Haverford’s CFO Dick Wynn and according to him the benefits are as follows:

150 or so tickets to all of the matches (could have been more)
Haverford gets its own booth at the Corporative Village
and of course cash

He mentioned that because there is no other conceivable venue for this corporate village, Haverford could have essentially ruined Marion’s chances of hosting had they unreasonable compensation. In the end, he said, it was in everyone’s best interest to get the deal done.

Sound like it should be a great opportunity to increase Haverford’s national and international visibility (and watch some good golf!!!)
