US Student Applying To UK Unis

Hi everyone,

I am a United States student applying to universities in the United Kingdom. I am wondering if anyone could give me an idea of my chances of being admitted based on my academic profile. I will be applying for English with Creative Writing.

Universities:

  • University of Bristol

  • University of Southampton

  • University of Manchester

  • University of Birmingham

Statistics:

  • 31 ACT (perfect scores in English and Reading)

  • 1370 SAT (740 in English)

  • 3 AP Seminar (I know how to write, I just have an issue with procrastination)

  • 4 AP United States History

  • 4 AP Comparative Government

  • 5 AP Environmental Science

  • 5 AP English Language and Composition

Currently Taking:

  • AP Literature (I am expecting a score of 5, 100%)

  • AP Research (literature-focused research project)

  • AP European History

  • AP Psychology (I am expecting a score of 5, 100%)

I understand that the UK does not really value extra curriculars, but here they are anyway:

Tutor children for free in English

Owner of literary blog

Owner of literary magazine

Multi-time state champion in Jiu-Jitsu

1x National Champion in Jiu-Jitsu

I’d appreciate ANY feedback! Thank you

With your profile, you should be good for each of these schools. I would encourage you to check out the University of St. Andrews. Slightly more competitive than these four, but you still have the stats to be a compelling candidate there as well.

St. Andrews is a different experience than the four that you have selected but it’s an amazing place for an American student to study. I wholeheartedly recommend adding it to your college selection process.
