Look at the link I posted. Most of the link come from “reputable” prep school. Is it that not a sharing (or trading", dumbass.
You USABO finalist leads you nowhere, it’s a dumb competion anyway, A score of 23/50 still get in semifinal, What a loser country !

Mr. Pavlov, please take your negative comments somewhere else. This is supposed to be a constructive forum about the actual competition and not your opinions about how terrible it is. 23/50 didn’t make semifinals this year. Please limit your discussion to something constructive, and not something argumentative about an issue you are misinformed about.

Furthermore, I don’t see how the competition is “dumb” if some of the best American high school students are struggling with it. I mean this with all due respect and defense of those people you’ve insulted. Apologies.

Quoting from besthope11, who I addressed that part of my comment to:

While I agree that the fact that CEE does not post former exams is unfair, claiming that it is illegal is a specific legal claim that may be refutable. If refuted, it would weaken her/his case.

And why are you on this topic, then?

Just FYI: 2010 Open was considered to be one of the more difficult and tricky Opens. Last year’s Finalists had Open scores in the 20’s, mostly. This year’s Open is so much easier.

Additionally, a full 10% of the people who take the Open will make it to Semi’s.

As for the value of USABO Finals: my silver medal from Nationals and my Siemens Regional Finalist designation were the high points of my academic career. I got into MIT, CalTech, and Columbia. Take from that what you want to.

In a somewhat indirect way of defending my fellow USABO Finalist NightShadeQueen, I just have to say that in the time it takes for y’all to hunt down and trade previous exams, it would benefit you so much more to reread the trickier/important Campbell chapters (9,10, animals, plants). Not only are you wasting time on shady deals, but you are also fostering needless animosity among a beautifully cohesive academic environment.

@mikepavlov: I understand your frustration, but at the same time, it is ill-advised to post blanket insults, especially against a country that consistently dominates the IBO every year.

On a separate note, gosh there are lots of sophomores attending camp this year! Good luck to all, and remember to ENJOY the whole experience.

Yeah, I’m kind of shocked at the number of s’mores this year as well. If any of you guys made it in without AP bio, color me shocked. That would be an amazing feat.

Oh, and random bit of advice number…what was I on, seven? Raven Gen Bio beats Campbell Gen Bio, hands down (in my honest opinion).
Eight: Check your neighborhood university for texts. I managed to check out a molebio book and Raven’s bio from my local uni. Total monies saved: probably over $300.
Nine: Amazon for cheap texts as well. Got Raven’s Plant’s for $23. Supposedly “used” - doesn’t look used. Score!
Ten: Bring a laptop.

Has anyone gotten their score yet? Also, are you guys confirmed finalists or still potential? Apparently not all of the finalists have been contacted yet.

I have a q for Nationals. My school’s AP Biology program only has the Campbell 3rd edition. Is it essential that I study fro the 8th edition or is the 3rd relatively the same as the 8th and i don’t have to worry about it?

I would say eighth edition is clearer and has more information in some aspects than previous editions, as a reader who’s converted from sixth to eighth edition. I have eighth on pdf and I can try to transfer it to you or something along those lines…?

Yeah, I’d agree that the eighth would be better. Based off of last year, they give every finalist a copy of Campbell at camp, so I wouldn’t bother with purchasing a copy now.

yeah, it doesn’t seem right and i wonder if they scored wrong or i got the wrong info. the test had over 200 points… or at least that’s what i counted.
