shwayzeeee, I hear from Berkeley in about two weeks. Though my first choice is USC, I can’t really shrug a Berkeley acceptance off as ho hum… I’m definitely excited. :)

at least you got something in March. mine has not changed since the first one I got in February. junior transferrr

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2009)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

Status last updated: 02/12/2009

Hey you guys! I’m glad I found you! I’m trying to get into the theatre program (I auditioned for BFA, but I’m pretty much positive that’s not going to happen, but Im still trying for the BA) Anyways, I haven’t looked at every post, but are people starting to hear from USC (as in transfers). Sadly, my status was last updated on 3/4/2009. I don’t feel good about that.

But what do you guys think is a good GPA for a transfer? I know it’s probably different for different departments, but I just thought I would ask

That’s because you probably turned in a full and complete application. Wish they could say the same about me, haha. I was missing a couple of things - that status came up after they received them.

Margot, no transfers are hearing yet. In the past, engineering students are the first to hear, around this time. Most of us will hear in late May/early June. Below are the average GPAs for the past couple years…

2006: 3.8
2007: 3.7
2008: 3.65

Go figure :|

margot - no, no one on here has heard =/ but will probably start within a few weeks:)
a good GPA is really anything above 3.0, 3.5+ is obviously preferred, but 3.0+ with a great deal of other good things can get you in  think the average GPA’s have been around 3.5 - 3.7 lately…

grey - yea i bet thatd be awesome if u got into berkeley  what i think sucks though is that probably a lot of people will get into USC and then say no because they realize they cant afford it and/or just applied for window shopping… and also many will get into other ‘better’ schools and therefore say no to USC… but at the same time, some of those people who really really wanna get into USC and just have slightly ‘worse’ applications, will not get in… even though they would go if given the chance…

im like that, im several of you may have ‘better’ apps than i do, but at least USC is my clear cut #1 choice, no doubt  and if i were to get in, id accept without a moments hesitation. i dont need fin.aid, ive already shown USC that i have the necessary funds(this is required for int. students) and i really am passionate about USC… ahh… i cant wait :stuck_out_tongue: im gonna hope for the best… :)

well ns89 i believe we all actually will have a better chance this year

because USC anticipates all the things you stated so therefore they accept more people since the know more people will reject
USC actually plans to slightly increase their percentage of acceptances this year from what I’ve heard from news articles

GPA’s for different programs and professionals schools vary. So if you guys are concerned about where you stand, call in and ask for the average GPA of people accepted to a specific major.

grey_syntactics:

2006 was 3.57, not 3.8!! haha

thaanswer, yea ive read the same thing  hopefully itll be true
that would be so awesome :)

I read the same article. I think it says that they’re increasing acceptances by about 1-2% I don’t know how much that is but that’s definitely a good sign for us dedicated CCers. I stayed up so late last night, the anticipation finally hit me that I can either be rejected or accept (well duh) and both would have dramatic effects on my life. It’s a scary thought!

ShooShuShoeShou thanks, you’re right. I don’t know where that 8 came from, haha!

ns89- I know how you feel, I’m in the same boat…hopefully this is the year though

Six more weeks. :D

Hey guys,

It’s been a long time since I last posted, but I just got a status update today!! I’m so juiced right now and I can’t wait to hear back. I read the same article in the “Trojan Daily” a while back, it said USC is increasing their acceptance rate by about 1-2% this year due to the economy and the fact that many people who are admitted might not be able to afford it. With that said, hopefully we all get in!

Yeah!!!

3 more weeks til spring semester is done for me!!
1st year of college flew by so quick!

Does anyone have a link to this article?
