oh and mee to Jocelyne

i am now just freaking out even though my status still hasnt been acted upon yet lol

I am going to wear my usc sweater today to hopefully give me good luck in the decision/status and ace my mineral exam :)

What up everyone!!! I hope you are all hanging in there and checking your status every hour on the hour like I did…hahaha…I know how stressful it is waiting on SC, but like I said before, once you find out you have been accepted it will all be worth it. I got a SGR June 1, 2008 and did not receive my acceptance package until July 15, so it takes time.
I’m majoring in Poli Sci (part of LAS) and if there are any Poli Sci majors out there here are a few of my stats.
Transfer GPA: 3.87
GE’s completed prior to transferring: 2
Courses completed for my major prior to transferring: 1
Language requirement: 1 course completed
Good things I had going for me: USMC Veteran and I grew up in the area
To make a long story short, don’t worry if you don’t have all the requirements done. If SC wants you they will make sure they get you.
Have a good one and GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!!!

Thanks foxgrunt. My cousin is in the marines. He’s in Kentucky learning how to operate tanks. Then from there he goes to 29 Palms of Afghanistan.

Thanks foxgrunt. that’s reassuring. did you get in for fall or spring last year??

do you guys think more updates will pop up today?? i remember last time, people started comparing the times at which their applications were updated and usually they were all the same time but they don’t include times on the dates this year. but i’m trying to be hopeful lol.
and Jocelyne that’s a good idea haha. maybe the sweater will be your good luck charm. :)

It took me a while to catch up after missing a day! I’m interning right now, re-imaging computers and I couldn’t resist coming to this thread. It’s really amazing how supportive we are of each other. Also, it’s insane how stressed every one is.

My mom is checking the mail every day. I haven’t explained to her that I might get a SGR. I’m hoping she doesn’t think it’s a rejection and hide it from me for a while! hahah

To the question of what every one will do if they get accepted: I’d probably shout loudly “WHAT?!” a few times while pacing around the room. I would wonder if I’d tell all my friends right away. They’re all pretty upset I’m moving across the country, especially my best friend. It’s been a real strain on our relationship and it makes me sad to think a part of her wishes I don’t get in even though I know she wants me to.

Ah, the stress.
If I drank, I’d be screwed.

knobzie- I am fortunate enough that if I get into SC, I don’t really have to move. But, if I lived anywhere in the country, SC is worth moving for. You’ll find new friends at an amazing campus…

Ok I was away for too long. I want to clear up confusion!

CaptainRodeo - that is the status you get when they are literally reviewing your application. Like seriously, people are staring at it RIGHT NOW. In a few days (or possibly a week) it should move to acted upon, and hopefully you will get your letter very soon.

I had this status last year, but didn’t get it until around May-ish. They seem to be going so fast!

Guys, this is a really sticky time, psychologically anticipating it.

If I tell myself I’m gonna get in, then I will be SUPREMELY disappointed if I don’t, and I will NOT be so excited and hyped and blown away if I do.

But if I tell myself I’m NOT gonna get in, then I’ll be kinda bummed out for the rest of this spring… AND I NEED MY ENERGY FOR MY 19 UNITS! lol

Come to think of it, all I could do is just concentrate on this semester, I guess… like a previous post said, His will shall be done.

And grey… yeah, this stuff happens in life. TO EVERYONE. Happened to me, too. This semester, I felt alone, cold, and kinda sorta out of place. But you just have to focus on YOU: ask yourself, what are my priorities? And if friends are on that list, I would meet up and talk it out.

Also, we should all remember: all of our trials and tribulations this year are gonna be nothing but memories when we get those packages.

And as the Bard says, “All’s well that ends well.” Ironically, we (or at least I) will look back at this time and say, “well, I guess it was fun”, that is, IF I get in. :)

PS - I’m so stoked that there are so many redheads around!

RadRedHead- wow, so they are looking at it now? Jocelyne626 said that she received that same status update on the 24th and she has not heard anything. Wow, I really hope that I hear something soon…

Oh, and about you being stoked about red heads. South Park obviously isn’t. Did you see the ginger episode?

Well, I said it may take a week. (The 24th was less than a week ago.)
Also, notice that they got rid of the ‘requesting materials’ sentence, so if you did not get a SGR, I am not sure if you will get one at all.

Sorry, I don’t watch South Park! But they hate on everyone, so I’m not offended by their ginger hate.

@ Jocelyne626

That is good news about PCC! I was worried.

^ same here, thanks for that info.

cappy… OMG. That is all. :)

waitingonSC - You said you go to school on the East Coast but are from the West, right? It’ll be quite the shift for me, but I’m equally as excited as I am scared. Judging by the amazing people posting on this thread, I have no doubt I’ll be meeting amazing people if I do go to SC.

Oooooh… so we find out in about a week? Well, that’s better than having to wait until Mid-May! Ya, and I did not get an SGR request. Wow, if I found out next week, and its bad news, that is when I am supposed to be studying for finals- which will then be VERY hard to do. Well, I am late for class, soo I will talk to all of you beautiful people in a few hours!!

Oh, ya, South Park hates. Bad show, but funny.

HEY HEY i’m new but I basically have the SAME feelings as you all so I can relate!!!
I have a question… if i applied to marshall and I don’t qualify would they just put me in CLAS???

Stats:
Transferring from: Univ of Colorado for 3 semesters, now at SMC
Applied to: Marshall
GPA: 3.54 (will be higher after SMC)
Pre-reqs: Last ENG in progress
Credits: 52 after this semester

What do you think? I don’t think I have a good chance :(

ahhh1234- sure u do! 3.54 is very respectable and although it might be a tad low for marshall, your second-choice major (or your open major in CLAS) will be considered in case marshall doesnt work out

definitely do not give up hope

It will go from that status, to acted upon, and THEN you get a letter. All together it could be 2 - 3 weeks. But you may still get it earlier than most people.

Hey east coast kids!! I am from the midwest, but I go to school on the east coast currently. You will definitely notice a lot of chagnes between east and west (there are already a lot from midwest and east,) but because USC has students from all over the world, do not worry too much about being out of the loop C:
