USC 2009 transfer thread

well i go to school in socal now actually but my address and everything is listed under guam

Question for Zamela,

What was your status before the “acted upon” one?

Thanks.

Someone asked me the other day if USC has a… quota, I guess… to fill when it comes to each category such as a certain percentage of out-of-state, of GPA, etc to accept. My response was, “if so, I hope I fall under whatever percentage that they accept!”

I looked but I couldn’t find anything on out of state students.
I did however find som stats we were talking about earlier.

From last year:

Number of transfers who applied for fall term: 8,305
Number of transfers who were admitted for fall term: 2,436

I hope we ALL are one of the 2436!!! :)

congratulations zirc, hopefully USC will provide you with your happy completely happy ending.

also as for the out-of-state vs. in-state transfers:

19% of transfers come from colleges outside california.

(they are a private school so don’t really need to be that selective about where their applicants come from. It’s just that a bunch of in-state community college students apply, way more than any other group of applicant so they have the highest enrollment of 64%)

that 19% is contrasted with the combined 16% of CSU/UC and private in-state universities enrollment.

also 1% of students are from international colleges and universities.

thats about 30% that’s not too bad! wow actually thats a lot more than i thought

hippo50 - i don’t know what my status looked like after april 15- april 22 though

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2009)
We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1.

Status last updated: 04/15/2009

I like when we start shooting out stats, it’s really great and helpful! I wonder if we’ll ever crack the code of status changes.

yeah i hope that helped you out-of-state people. i mean, they don’t have a quota. it’s USC. they can do whatever the heck they want. :)

everyone go watch the celtics-bulls game. it’s so crazy right now.

and cheer for the bulls just because the celtics beat the lakers last year haha. :)

It helped a bunch, thanks! And I think I’m too used to going to a city college. Time for a change.

Yeah the acceptance rate for transfers is about 29%! Thats always good!
And 19% out of state works for me.
Do you guys know if they are generous with financial aid?? or not…
I know L.A is expensive…

Thanks Zamela.

Hopefully mine means good things to come!!! I sure as hell am praying. Though Kal is wonderful, I’d much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much, much prefer the University of Southern California.

My tour guide took a good amount of tour time to explain the financial aid process. She was explaining how her family definitely didn’t have the money, but USC did its best to help out. It’s got a crazy amount of donations that go to student aid. She also said that when something changed with her income, she went right to the office and they fixed things up for her right then and there. This was the part of the tour my mom was really impressed with, haha.

chaly87,

it all depends on your EFC. but honestly, USC has an amazing financial aid process and they claim to meet 100% of your need. even while a bunch of universities are struggling right now, USC is still doing well.

How much hippo50?? haha! Ugh… I wish they would just let us all know RIGHT NOW!!! this wait is so frustrating!!!
