So thats what I thought. It wouldn’t cost me $55k-60k to go to USC per year. It must be people that are getting housing at USC?

@mom -

Luckily, all of us on this thread are transfer students. Most of us will only be attending USC for 2 to 3 years. Also, departmental scholarships open up for transfer students beginning their second semester.

Yes, taking on “too much debt” can be a bad thing. I know that for my major (Film and Television Production), USC can’t be beat in terms of job placement, agency representation, and industry networking. There is no other film school in the world with better connections than USC’s School of Cinematic Arts. I am willing to incur some debt in order to receive a world-class education, and an opportunity to get my foot in the door in an industry where who you know is almost more important than what you know. I see my debt as an investment toward my future success (it’s minimal debt, thanks to USC’s generous financial aid award).

I’m not sure if SC is worth the price tag for every major, but I know that it is for mine.

It also is for Business… =)

hehe well said HImom
i know im taking a bit of debt, but its worth it and actually, whatever school i would go to, id take on the same amount of debt, only my parents would have to pay less… you see the loans/scholarships im getting from the swedish government are a normal thing, and i dont know of anyone who hasnt taken them(even all my friends who still live in sweden, where education is free)… + my family has the means to pay it off if it were needed… to me usc is def worth the investment, and to my parents aswell :)

good morning beautiful people

hehe you said good morning at 1.20 pm. had too much fun last night? lol

Weekends suck in terms of waiting for USC.

Ugh.

darn…so does anyone know of when those peeps who had successful appeals heard from the school that they were accepted?

*****Please help,

Anyone …Helloooooooooooooooooooooooo…

good morning

I missed you guys.

LOL.

I might be “in the green room” at Chapman. The admission officer from there called on friday and told me to expect a call on Monday from someone at Dodge to discuss other major options and opportunities within the film school. I have been told that when this happens that you have been accepted to your second choice major.

Chapman, oddly enough, is the only film school I applied to for screenwriting as a second major. I thought making the video essay would be more fun. Cocky, I know.

So… God in his infinite hilarity probably thinks this is a very funny way to get me into film school. And humble me. Because he and I seem to have the whole acceptance of rejection thing down to an art form in and of itself.

A brief history of time:

UCLA: NO
SCAD: NO
FSU (film): NO (creative writing): yeah. …hurray
USC: NO

If, (read:when…I’m an eternal optimist), it works out I will be super stoked.

I know Chapman or any other CA school is a curse word on here.
But 350+ posts on this forum alone makes me a vet… LOL.
And can’t a fella curse a little very once in a blue moon.

Namaste.

Good luck everyone.
I’ll check back in and let you know how it goes.

So now it’s just the SGR people waiting?

i think so…im still waiting

shoo is also still waiting, as is marco. Yep, seems like it.

Did anybody have their financial aid award appealed and end up with a better award? If so did all you need to do was send in a letter or give proof of the situation? Thank you!

yeah, im still waiting. I haven’t even gotten my last semester grades yet lol

I am still waiting my status went from we have received spring grades to we have requested spring term grades, i don’t know whats going on.

Good luck guys. The SGR wait sucks, I know.

Yeah it does im so lost i dont know what is going to happen at this point

You can fax them the documents and they’ll do an initial review, but they won’t process your file until they receive the electronic submissions from the Department of Education and CSS. They simply can’t risk basing their decisions off of a faxed copy of a computer-generated document.

you may fax your document directly to (213) 821-3717. Be sure to include the student’s name and USC ID number.
