@Amorrison Yea, my OASIS is like that too, I think it’s because they’re starting to add changes to the financial aid awards, when I click on ‘My 2010-2011 Awards’ Instead of bringing me to a link that just has NONE on there, it now brings me to another site that says

" Thank you for visiting the USC Financial Aid Office. Your financial aid information is currently unavailable because your award has not yet been determined. Graduate students should receive their Financial Aid Summaries starting April 1 and continuing throughout the summer. Continuing undergraduate students will begin receiving their Financial Aid Summaries in June. "

I’m hoping they’ll fix the admissions decision part though so we can check our admission status changes, I’m pretty sure it’s because they’re making changes to the OASIS site and the admissions part should be fixed soon, if not, I’m sure someone is bound to call them to fix it.

So I hadn’t logged onto OASIS before (I used USConnect for everything), so where is the admission status supposed to show up on that page? I know its not there for some of you, but when it used to be there or for those who still have it there, is it another box just like Financial Information, Course Information, Course Transfer, etc. or is it inside one of the already existing boxes?

Yeah my status is gone now as well. and when I click on financial aid I am routed to that website… Does this mean they’re starting to review transfer apps???

I was wondering how many of you put down second choice majors. I feel like I was really stupid not to put one down seeing as it’d kind of give me a second chance at admission?

Should I, or rather can I, email the admissions office and ask to declare a second choice major? Or would that just make me seem like a last-minute loser? D:

It appears that the requirements are changing, starting our entering year, and that many a couple classes we took in order to transfer are going to end up being useless. Is anyone else planning on going to the Leventhal School of Accounting, because I think that it hurts us even more…

I don’t think that’s the case. The economics courses still transfer; those are essential credit and prerequisites to other classes. If you can save time (and money) by taking them at your prior school, it’s well worth it and it will leave room to explore other classes while at USC. They just will not be requirements. Additionally, if you can take two accounting courses at a prior school and end up taking just the single abridged accounting course, that is also worth it. The only thing that is changing is the efficiency of the requirements – Second-level Writing and Calculus I/Business Calculus will count more than ever. This changes things a bit, and I believe makes Marshall even more competitive than it is now.

And in more recent events: let’s hope they are reviewing our applications sometime soon – maybe even now. :)

Hmm… sure the econ classes still transfer for credits, but they have replaced them with another two classes that you must take in place - ones which you cannot get transfer credit for, adding four units you have to take. But yeah looking more into it, its really not a problem for BusAdmin majors, but adds 2 units to acct majors and since I was trying to get out in two years that becoming increasingly more difficult. More importantly about those two economics courses though is that they aren’t on the Fall 2010 schedule of classes, and the website doesn’t address when they will be available (unlike the BUAD 425 which it says will be offered starting in Fall 2011)…

@skyline Accounting is cooler than your BusAdmin concentration, especially considering the fact that it appears BusAdmin majors no longer do concentrations… The website says the 2004-2009 Business Concentration (16 Units) is being replaced in 2010 by Upper Division Marshall Electives (12 units)!

@LagunaSC/Skyline - Could you link me to info on this curriculum change so I could read about the specifics? Or paste verbatim what the changes are going to be.

LagunaSC: Not sure what you’re referencing, but I frequent the Marshall page and haven’t read anything on the changes. The only information I know is:

Maybe you can reference something so I can read the changes? Thanks~

@zack504: Definitely, since I’ve spoken with several people in the field (I currently work for a private investment bank). People call me crazy, but I am the type who loves working long hours to produce results that I wouldn’t regularly expect; the team element has a lot to do with it since my present job is a very small office and I don’t get that opportunity to work together at all.

Skyline, Very cool to know another prospective transfer student interested in banking. Being that you live in California, is there a pipeline from USC into NY BB investment banks? I know largely it depends on networking, but do BB investment banks in NY have OCR at USC? Are you going to be interning at your ib this summer as well?

@Zach504 - Thanks but the changes seem rather vague to me. Are they just getting rid of many of the required Marshall curriculum courses and converting them to elective options instead? It also said they are updating the foundation courses, I wonder if this means our two econ & accounting courses are no longer good for transfer? :(
