USC 2010 Transfer Thread

yes they areee

^only for like <1% of people…

Hey i was wondering if anyone can help me out. i have been checking almost 3 times a day for nearly a month to see if the status if my application has changed and it says “We are unable to process the status of your application at this time. Please try again later, or Contact Us with any questions or concerns you might have.” I called the office they say they have everything in idk maybe im being silly but i want to know if that is a bad sign on whether i will get in or not… sc is my top choice so its weighing on me a little more then it probably should

hi, i am going to apply for fall 2011 as marshall business admin.
I was wondering what’s in supplemental application for marshall?

@slee0103 - In the supplement they just ask some additional questions regarding your completion of the pre-requisites for transfer for business majors such as the calculus, econ, accounting etc.

There is no additional essay writing or anything.

@slee0101- It is part of the application and states:
“FOLLOWING USC EQUIVALENT COURSES MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE END OF SPRING 2010:
USC’s WRIT 130, ECON 203, ECON 205 and MATH 118 or higher.
Please list the course that you have completed(or will complete) that equates to the appropriate Marshall prerequisite.”

It also asks if you completed any AP classes that are equivalent or if you have taken any of the optional accounting classes.
Its basically about grades, no writing or anything

Don’t Worry, Be Happy

Hopefully CLAS starts sending decisions as well. Everyday from now on I will be at my mailbox.

One class done with an A, seven more to go!

Only the 11th and someone already heard back, crazy!!! Hopefully everyone starts to hear back soon.

Jorge, if I’m not mistaken, I think either you’re getting a spring grade request, or a decision soon. Hopefully someone who knows can correct me or back me up.

Good luck!

I am currently an intl transfer student in commn college in Santa Monica. Looking to transfer into SC for Econ. Will I be eligible for any sort of financial aid(scholarships/grants) besides loans? If so how much could I expect best and worst case scenario??

Also, if I’m transferring with approx. 60sem units, would it be advisable for me to take my SAT again(currently have a 1350/1600-700math 650CR)

Appreciate the help guys! Congrats to all who got admitted!

@Meguct --What are your stats(like GPA, EC’s, etc.)…those will most likely determine any scholarships given.

@MEGUCT - the amount of financial aid you get will be determined by a lot of factors that you forgot to mention.

@striker - i know!!! i hope so too! my gf got her acceptance letter on JUNE 1st from CLAS.
i think they mmight to CLAS last cuz its usually the biggest :(

Not to be a buzz kill here but… I thought international students paid the full sticker price. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I do remember reading that they receive little to no aid.

@brianlee - International students have issues attending schools in the states because they are not eligible for need based aid at public schools and many privates. Some private schools however do offer aid to international students through their own funding since they are private and can do whatever they want with their $$ :)

[Schools Awarding International Financial Aid](Schools Awarding International Financial Aid)

Not sure how up to date the above database is but you can select CA and you’ll see all the colleges in CA that offer aid to international students. Notice they are all private institutions.

hm alright here are my stats/EC’s…

I’ve currently completed about 30qtr units. I thought they didn’t weigh your SAT/HS record if you apply as a transfer with more than 30sem units(which I will be doing since I’ll be applying with about 90qtr units)??

Stats:
College GPA-4.0
HS GPA -till grade 11-4.0 grade 12- 3.0(rough calculation, British syllabus so no W/UW)
SAT - 1350/1600,1900/2400(700-M 650-CR 550-W)

EC’s:
Captain varsity basketball team(top 3 in nation where I lived)+ numerous individual awards
Community Service approx. 150 hours
Student Gov’t Member
Written articles for magazines,newpapers etc
Quiz Club member(finalist/winner in many quizzes, appeared on tv as a semi finalist in a quiz too)
Coached HS basketball

Hopefully I’ll have a 4.0 by the time of my application with 62 or so semester units.

Hope this would give you a better idea. Thanks for the help guys!

dumb question but anyone know of any “secret societies” at USC?

@Meguct Did you apply for Fall 2010? They won’t weight your SAT, however I do not think you’d be counted as a international student since you are taking courses in America, but I am not sure how it works. Anyways, good luck! My girlfriend is British(her dad was in a big 80s band there, OMD) and is applying too :)

Just want a best/worst case scenario for what i can expect in terms of aid with my stats/ECs excluding loans.

Also, do I need to take my SAT again to get a better score im I’m applying with 60+ sem units?
