USC 2010 Transfer Thread

also depends on how much money ur parents make i think. if ur super ballin, no moneys. if ur broke, moneys!

no SAT.

HAHA.I come from a low-income family. Just for assumption’s sake we’ll assume I can’t pay anything.

Any answers guys?

so i was looking at last years stats threads and it looks like this year they are sending out transfer decisions a little sooner (even though it looks like only for viterbi right now)… but if we don’t find out until the middle of june or even closer to july, then i’m guessing on -campus housing will be impossible. but does anyone know how hard it will be finding off campus housing with such short notice?

MEGUCT - then id expect a decent amount. from what ive heard USC will ALWAYS meet your financial needs. but im really no expert in this field. are u applying this fall or next? if its this fall, be sure to apply for fin. aid. its been a while since its been due.

Looking at listings on craigslist.com, there are a lot of places open for rent in the general USC area (0-3 mile distance).

I think what it comes down to is:

 1. How much you are willing to pay
 2. The condition of the apartment/house
 3. How far you are willing to walk/ride/drive
 4. Roommate/Single
 5. Amenities

On average from what I saw, rent was anywhere from 500-800 dollars with some in the 1000+.

thanks for your input dainese. nope, not this fall…applying Fall 2011 :)

ah well i guess ill get more opinions tomorrow!!

np. but id definitely try to find/talk to someone at USC who is an intl student with low income. they will have much more to say.

@brianlee - craigslist ftw!, but always be sure to google street view the place first haha. ive seen some places for a good price good pictures, and its in the most random place ever.

@trojanhopeful - it should be easy because depending on people’s leases, some end after summer and start up again in the fall. so we can jump right in after summer :D

im looking for a 1 room, private bathroom, w/ stove/sink. for 500-600. ive found plenty too. so just keep looking when the time comes :)

also consider living in other places aside from LA. Im aiming for…alhambra,pasadena, westwood…atleast 10-20 minutes away from USC. if i get a place in LA then ill most likely have to share with someone, which i dont want to do.

@trojanhopeful - We have a lengthy discussion going on the facebook group with links to a lot of the off-campus housing options.

We should all pitch in to buy a van and a parking permit, then get rid of the seats in order to make room for us to sleep (in shifts). Don’t worry, we can shower in the gym. Costco has some really nice memory foam mattress toppers.

as long as the people that are sleeping with me are hot girls. :D

Nice guys. That’s the dream right there

haha. we’ll put a sock on the door handles to signal privacy.

Can anybody post the link again for the facebook page for trasfers? Thanks!

Anyone know if a conditional acceptance comes in a regular letter or the full package?

What exactly is conditional acceptance? Is that pretty much you have to take X course in order to be admitted? Or is it what everyone gets-- ie. keep your grades above a X.X or the admissions offer will be rescinded.

A conditional acceptance is conditional upon you completing the courses you are in with a satisfactory grade. Sometimes it will state a specific GPA you must maintain also.

Rejection = letter
Acceptance = package

it’s scary to think about it. Opening the mailbox to find a letter with the usc heading…

@ Kulakai-- Isn’t that standard though? I kind of assumed that is what everyone is expected to do.

@TheGoldFinch - well I couldn’t say as I’ve only gotten one acceptance so far and it simply stated that it was conditional on me completing my classes with acceptable grades.

I read in past usc threads that they sometimes put specific gpa requirements also such as getting a 3.5 gpa for the semester at least. I’m guessing you’d usually see that for people with less credits such as those who are transferring in as sophomores or something?
