USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@LagunaSC- Thanks. If I remember correctly, It has remained the same status for quite some time now, wasn’t sure if that meant I was closer to the “committee is reviewing” status than someone who just had their status changed to the “we are reviewing” status.

@ rhandler33-- I don’t even see an Admission tab, haha. Thank goodness I’m not planning on doing anything with computers, I would fail so hard.

And just to double check, you’re using this site? https://camel2.usc.edu/AdmOnlineApplication/</a></p>

Yes, I noticed that status changes have already started to occur. What I said was they would become more prevalent as we move closer to may. I’ve been through this before, I know how it goes.

There are really only three statuses people here need to be aware of: “The committee is reviewing your app…,” “The committee has acted on your app,” and the SGR one. The rest doesn’t really mean anything.

If you’re stuck on the “committee is reviewing your app…” status for a long time, then I would start to assume rejection. That has been the pattern, with some exceptions, for the past few years.

@TheGoldFinch https://usconnect.usc.edu//</a> This works for Mac now…it’s alot better then just the application link

i had missing documents for financial aid and they emailed me to turn that in. is that hindering my status to change?

@ LagunaSC

Hahaha. I’m at 16 … which means I actually have 8.

You definitely win hands down.

Does anyone know if USC financial aid will take into consideration large income differences? (When compared to previous years).
I was working full time/not in school during early-mid 2009, and received a taxable bonus which boosted up my income for the year. Compared to my previous year’s income, the difference is quite large.

My main point with this is because I am not making anything close to the amount I did last year (I also did not make anything close to it in 2008). I do not want to miss out on financial aid that I should/could be getting.

This is my first post here and reading through parts of this thread makes me not feel so alone anymore!

Does anyone know if only taking one semester of English at my community college will hurt my chances of getting admitted into USC? The dean of English advanced me into English 001C (Critical Thinking) without having to take the pre-requisite course English 001A (English Composition). I applied undecided.

Also I just withdrew from a class so I will only be completing 9 units this semester and I only have 18 already completed units. Does this mean the admissions office will now focus on my high school career? Can I take courses this summer to fulfill the 30 units because I’m not so in love with my high school records?

Thanks all and good vibes to everyone!

@johnlocke- any applications under 30 units completed by the end of spring 2010 will have their high school record and test scores considered. I think the rule of thumb is that if you couldnt make it into USC as a high school senior, you should be above 30 when you apply.

Also, USC wants to see that you are full-time, (typically 12 units and up) and in fact the rep that came to my CC said they want to see 15 units each semester if possible. Don’t get anymore W’s if you can help it because USC despises W’s. I think what they dont like about it is the fact that students typically will withdraw and take the W in order to manipulate their GPAs to keep them as high as possible.

@johnlocke I only took one semester of English because my university could not offer me another English/writing course until junior year. I talked to my USC admissions counselor about it and she said it’s not a big deal and to mention it on my application. Although I know I will have to take another English course there because two semesters of English is required for my major (and I think pretty much every major at USC). If you did not mention the reason for not taking two semesters of English, maybe you should e-mail an admissions counselor just to ask about it.

i took only one English class, which was last semester(equivalent to WRIT 130) My AP credit allowed me to skip English Comp I here at my university. so I didn’t have to worry about it. Or I hope at least lol

I’ve never been able to log onto USConnect. I don’t get it. Maybe it’s because I’m on a Mac (though they claim it works for Macs now).

@ arcadefire1027

The trick is to hit the actual “Login” button when using a MAC rather than hitting return.

It should work.

I have been doing that. Still no success.

Edit: I fixed it. I had them E-mail me my password and I guess I was supposed to use some different password than the one I used on my application.

Double edit: Well, I was able to log on but I can’t really do anything on there. When I click to check my submitted documents, nothing happens.

@arcadefire1027 - For a long time it didn’t work but it will work with Safari 4.0+ now. Make sure pop ups aren’t blocked for the website when you click admissions and view your status.

Ah pop-ups was the money. I never really use Safari so I wasn’t used to it, haha. Thanks.

haha yeah it took me forever to figure out i needed to allow pop ups

Anyone still have this status?? I’m beginning to feel left out…

We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

hmm… do you think they didn’t update my status b/c i didn’t turn in all the fin. aid documents?

you guys too?

mxbile131-I still have that status lol ://
I wouldn’t worry about it too much; they can’t update all 9,000 transfer apps in one week.
