@striker15 Wow! I swear I checked in January to prepare for the transfer application to Harvard but read on their website they don’t accept transfers. Guess they opened it up
sigh

interesting fact of USC for the day…USC’s school colors used to only be GOLD and College was Cardinal. But they eventually combined the two.

@striker15- Oh wow, thats interesting. When I began to really look at colleges 1.5-2 years ago, their website bodly stated that they do not accept transfers. Thats good to hear that they’ve opened to transfers.

@rhandler33- who you know could also mitigate a second look at your application, if you so happen to be in the wrong pile.

Schools are businesses, they want you to become a well known alumni like Lucas, Aldrin, etc. Obviously someone that has higher grades (law of averages) states that person will more than likely be more successful then a student that didn’t do as well. But that’s not always the case. My career was in sales, and I earnestly believe it has much to do with Business because everything from computer chips to potato chips needs to be sold by a salesman. I put that rather kiddish but sometimes you just cannot explain something unless it’s simplistic. Also, if you do not know human nature…but you know facts about business like it’s not smart to make an investment unless you’ll get at least an 8% R.O.I. (what they teach at USC) then well, chances of success diminish. There are street smarts and book smarts, you need a bit of both, I think. (not saying you don’t have either because I think you have both…) I just want to get into USC…

I’d get a degree in basket weaving at this point…

I clicked on “Undergraduate Application” in order to view my status, but it simply goes to an error message and claims that the page I was looking for was not found; what is more, my USConnect is working perfectly, excluding that one page. What the F Internet Explorer, I want to see my status- my day is not complete without doing so :(

@spada100- I have experience in sales as well. I understand fully what you mean because I feel the same way about the notion that schools are businesses. lol, and obviously you want to go to USC, we all do! I believe that is why we are all on this thread.

In no way do I believe that GPA makes the person. Obviously, due to their application and what the admissions office has said, neither does USC. They want a rounded individual. If someone cannot maintain a higher GPA, but they put their all into it, I’m all for them getting into the school. I just resent people who slide by with subpar GPAs, not because theyre not able to get the grade, but because they just dont care, dont go to class, or put forth any effort.

I was just venting my frustration about the type of people who I mentioned above. I am surrounded by many individuals in my classes at my CC who dont take their schooling seriously, rarely attend the lectures and get D’s/C’s in their prereq’s, and when asked which school they wish to transfer to, they answer ‘USC’.

I hope you didnt take my comments personal. It was not directed at you. It sounds like you put forth a great amount of effort and deserve to get in. I hope we all do, we put more thought, time, and work into this than anyone else it seems.

@ dreamingUSC

It’s down. Anything using “camel2.usc.edu” isn’t working. I was trying to look at some articulation agreements earlier. Same thing.

so its been 2 days, and im still not able to sign onto USConnect. i know im not putting in the wrong email/password, so i tried emailing them through the “Contact Us” link, and no matter what i do, it says “Submitting message is a failure.”

could there be something wrong with my application/email/account?
i dont know what to do anymore! i guess ill have to call them tomorrow…but im kinda freaking out. is this happening to anyone else?

*oh and i tried to request my password, but it would not recognize my email. but when i tried to make a new account (which i dont think is possible anyway) it said that account already exists. so my account still exists, but i cant access it?

ruh roh…definitely call.

ah crap. now im going to be worrying about it until i can call tomorrow and sort it all out. i hope its nothing too bad…

were you using IE/mac system all along? i tried to use my account on mac system it wont work out if i was using IE all along before

5 more hours till my mid term. no studying done. nice :)

@SouthOCTrojan A rec from George Lucas is like a pot of gold, it’s very, very rare to have. In case you are unaware, Mr. Lucas has donated several MILLION to the school and has a hall named after him. He has never recommended anyone to attend USC, this being his first, and most likely only, one. A rec from Mr. Lucas will definitley not land my friend in the wrong pile…which is why I am completely, 100% jealous that they do not have to stress like the rest of us hahaha

@rhandler33- lol, I didnt realize you were still talking about Lucas. Yes, I am aware of his standing at cinematic school. What I didnt realize was he was a transfer student, thats a huge check in the W column for us transfers.

I think the USC admissions office is a tease. They make you work for it, take it out to dinner, show it a good time, and then give you only a taste, but that just makes you want it even more. so you keep hanging out with her, but she just won’t put out, and right when you lose hope, shes makes that decision.

@SouthOC BEST ANALOGY EVER HAHAHHAHA
