My bad. I didn’t mention I applied as a Freshman this year. I was denied, but I had that box.

Yeah…all freshmen are supposed to have that box

@dainese- Why is it then last year they sent SGRs to people with units ranging from 45-90 units? their gpas seemed to be around anywhere from 3.6-4.0. Do you think that if you have enough units under your belt and youre transferring as junior that they wont send you one?

i have 48 quarter units, 28 units of which are directly transferable through articulation agreement and the others being related to my major for marshall. my gpa is in the 3.8’s. i am a freshman applying as a sophmore. should i be looking at getting an SGR, especially since im taking my last prerequisite for marshall in my spring quarter?

or is there a possibility i can get accepted for my second choice, which is econ?

@mreddiee- Since you’re a freshmen transfer, I have a feeling they will want a SGR from you. You have A’s or B’s in all of your Prereqs? as long as you have taken care of everything needed and you had a strong essay/application, you sound golden for marshall. Hope you just get into marshall without a SGR!

@anyone-
I’m a junior whom after this semester will have about 74 units completed (56 completed, 18 currently taking) with a 3.85 GPA. My only worry about the SGR is because I am finishing up my Calculus and Managerial Accounting classes this semester. I doubt they’d send a SGR for the accounting since its not a prereq, just a class that you can take at CC and get it out of the way, but the Calculus IS a prereq and I wonder if they would really send an SGR out just for that one class if I have a record of about 56 completed units that consists entirely of A’s and with the exception of only 2 B’s (both in trig[summer] and precalculus.)

I thought I saw people last year who were finishing up their last prereq and were automatically accepted without SGRs.

I’d appreciate anyone’s thoughts/input.

@ SouthOCtrojan

It’s a 50/50 chance. As you said, last year there were people accepted straight away although they had prereqs in progress. Even in the 2008 decision thread, I saw people with prereqs who were accepted without an SGR.

Hopefully we won’t have to deal with SGRs. If we do, we may not have final decisions until mid-June.

the waiting is driving me insane

@SouthOCtrojan thanks for the input n good luck to you too

does anyone know approximately how many more weeks are left until USC begins to send out decision mail to CLAS applicants?

i’d have to say another month minimum before we start to see any…

I wouldn’t say a month is necessarily true. Though the majority will probably not hear back until later, some of the CLAS applicants will receive decisions within the next few weeks I’m sure. Last year, for example, a person on CC who has the same major as me (Kinesiology) heard back around April 20. Decisions could be coming any time!

heyyy! sorry to break in but i have a quick question, maybe some of u are in similar situations?

i got into university of michigan & they want a decision/deposit by may 1! problem…i probably won’t hear back from usc till AFTER that. if I make a deposit, is it final, can i change my mind…should i just risk it and forget about michigan??

i know it’s ultimately my decision but i’d like some opinions
thanks anyone who can help.

Pay the deposit and accept. If school number one comes through, all you lose is your deposit.

Or, ask Michigan for an extension.

sorry this is late, but I did not check yesterday… but reading through the pages
@rhandler and @dbroncos I am a freshman transfer and have had the mid year grade report box either right after I applied or a week or so after… so… idk what it means but I never clicked on it

also I have not gotten a status update idk if that plays any role in this

EDIT so once I clicked the box it asked for my 12th grade grades, but I skipped 11th and 12th grade to go to college early do you think I should call and clarify my app?

@sclove09- definitely pay the enrollment deposit for Michigan. I am waiting for USC to make a move before I pay for either Arizona or Oregon because I got into both for business, however I am going through with all the housing applications as if I am going to attend both schools until I hear otherwise from USC.

paying the enrollment fee is just the safe course of action, we have no idea dubutee eff USC is up to.

@anyone- Has anyone heard of people from previous years recieving their decision with just the “we are reviewing your application” status, before their status changed to the “committee is reviewing” status? it seems that statuses dont matter at all in some cases, as some people recieve their decision before the status changed to “the committee acted”.

@SouthOCtrojan

I’ve seen that. I can’t tell you from transfer experience, but on the Freshman thread many people received their packages without any status change. Or once they received their package their status changed. I even know some people who had received their package and their status changed after a week or so after receiving them.

@dbroncos23- status changing as in they never even reached the “committee” statuses ever? thats pretty cool, that means that they could in the mail anyday and we’d have no idea if a decision is made or not until those coveted cardinal packets are in the mail.

are the packages white or cardinal? I’ve heard different colors from different people. :/

lol, I heard both, I’m sure it could change every year maybe? who knows, who cares. its a package and whats inside the package is what counts. who cares what the color is.

ask one of the people whove been accepted this year already. they obviously know. hahaha.

I just got a letter back from the Office of the President…I wrote a letter to President Sample asking for an interview(proactive approach never hurts). I got a letter back stating that my request and letter has been forwarded to the dean of admissions. Don’t know what that means, but hey, it’s pretty cool that I even got a reply.
