hey guys! i applied as a communications major in USC for this coming fall. Would anyone happen to know what the average admit gpa is for my major? I’m losing my sanity from this very long wait! I just want to know if I have a decent shot at USC just so I can somehow calm down a little bit. Lol

@hellostranger 3.67 was the average for Fall 08, however transfers were probably higher then that, and the average GPA tends to rise over the years.

@rhandler33- Hey at least its not a letter reading something like ‘as stated on our website, we do not grant prospective transfer students interviews’. So thats sounds good!

I looked into interviews during my preparation period and I even asked a counselor and they said they don’t have transfer interviews and they don’t even do one-on-one counseling appointments. They told me that they felt that if a student can properly navigate the application process that it essentially shows them that the student is capable and can critically think, etc. whatever…I dont remember exactly what their response was, but it was basically: ‘your on your own, kid.’

@SouthOC Yeah basically I went on saying the application does not show who I am or my “true story” ya know? So I figured I should take a proactive approach and ask for one haha

@rhandler- hmm…i dont know about that. I would’ve thought maybe someone who had SGR and then wasnt necessarily a strong candidate and they were full for fall. I know USC only even accepts a total of like 64 units total or something around there. so Im pretty sure that it doesnt matter if you had 100 units or 70 units, they still pick and choose which units are transferrable and which are not at the cutoff point.

lolol im right there with you too Dainese…damn I have to study for midterms but it’s so difficult since I’m nearing the end of my year at my dreadful college… lolol

@rhandler- oh ok, I see what you mean. my bad. hmmm theres two things I dread: SGR and spring admit. lol, yea I have finals in 4 weeks as well. homestretch!!!

@sadfish - Is 1a/1b a two quarter sequence? Calc 1 as a one semester course also works. As long as you take a full calculus 1 course you’re good.

My best friend goes to USC as a theatre major and I was with her all day Friday. Every time I step foot onto that campus, I swear it makes the wait a thousand times more unbearable.
Go back to school tomorrow and I think I’m ready to power through the next eight weeks. Fight on.

Yeah, I think it said somewhere, you can replace Business Calc with Calc 1. I actually emailed Marshall, asking some questions regarding the change in pre-requirements. This was about 2 days ago, and I have yet to receive a reply. Haha. Maybe they’re busy or something. Who knows.
