USC 2010 Transfer Thread

why congrats?

please enlighten me

yup, im applying for industrial engineering

It means you will know if you are accepted/rejected in the next few days.

kulakai, does this status change mean that i got accepted?

has anyone gotten this status change only to receive a rejection letter in the mail?

This early in the game, you are most likely accepted.

^^ What he said. Only Viterbi applicants have gotten decisions this early and they’ve all been acceptances.

I dont think they even send out denials in april anyhow. Dont sweat it, 100 bucks says youre in.

Does an early status change mean anything (aka changing to “we are reviewing your application”)

no idea. Ive had the “we are reviewing your app” forever now. so who knows what it ACTUALLY means.

@Lustrous - Getting that status change means an admissions rep has looked at your app to make sure everything is in order(nothing missing etc.) so that it is ready to eventually be reviewed by an admissions committee. The fact that it changed early simply means the app was perhaps closer to the top of the pile or higher up the list however there is no evidence that points to you getting a decision sooner because of it.

Makes sense, lol. That was like a perfect answer.

We are both getting into Marshall, don’t worry about it! :)

idk if this has been discussed but do you think getting accepted into ucla means your stats are likely going to get you into usc?

Just for the record, EVERYONE gets the “committee has acted upon” status, rejected/accepted. But it seems like everyone who gets it this early has been accepted. Once we get into May it’ll be more ambiguous, I think.

@ernily - I think it definitely means that you’re a competitive candidate, but they have different admissions requirements so it is hard to say for sure.

hm man i submitted my usc app but i didn’t supplement it with transcripts and such bcos at that point, i just thought going to state would be best. totally regret it since i got into ucla but usc was the dream :(

I got accepted to UCLA for communication studies. is UCLA or Annenberg better? i want to ultimately operate my own business

@ihateceltics- maybe you should go to Annenberg and minor in business? or maybe go marshall and minor in communications…just a thought. ;-)

^ yea i applied to marshall  hopefully i get in

UCLA, for California residents, is quite cheap. USC’s alumni network is better than UCLA’s, but UCLA is higher ranked academically. They are both fantastic schools and you can’t go wrong either way!

@ernily- I just mailed them my transcripts seperately from my application back in February. If you got into UCLA, youre obviously well qualified, dont give up hope, SEND IN YOUR TRANSCRIPTS ASAP!! It may not be too late. They are still reviewing applications and it sounds like they are emailing people and asking for the transcripts that havent been turned in yet. USC is NOT fucla, they could still take them. it wouldnt hurt to just send them and hope for the best.

@ihateceltics- Yea same here. Business admin all the way, lol. By the looks of everyones stats on this thread and the fact that everyone here for the most part, REALLY gives a sh1t and has obviously put the work in on their grades and application. Im pretty sure the thread’s acceptance rates, including marshall, will be extraordinarily high.

Basically, Im sure most of us have nothing to worry about. :-)
