USC 2010 Transfer Thread

@jcarroll6: No, you just need your USC ID number, which you should have gotten before or soon after you applied. if you don’t have it, you can email admissions and they’ll send it to you. On the housing website, click “register” above the login field.

@foodmunkee- Your essay was pretty legit. I might have to use that verbatim next year if im not accepted…

question…just in case I am not accepted where can I find the appeal form or application?

@ dchrysler and jcarroll6:

You have to be admitted before you can do so…Even after admission, you would have to submit another housing application and wait for them to reply you with your password and everything, then u can official request for a dorm. The process sucks.

In addition, i am doing summer quarter over in Seattle. My quarter ends on August 12th and i needa drive my car filled with all my belongings over to LA in time for the international orientation on august 16th. It’s gonna be a crazy week.Damn, i’m definitely gonna miss seattle!

anyhow, where are you guys planning to stay if you get accepted?

im living off campus. on campus is too much $$ haha

@Dainese: Many people don’t realize the work ethic required for the Marshall program. As my cousin always tells me: there were entire weekends of study groups that he wouldn’t sleep and books to the point that you didn’t have enough time to read. I think this makes perfect sense to have the breadth of work that’s presented. It separates those that are serious about what they want to learn and those that just want to skate by.

@skyline- very true. good thing im going to CLAS tehe. but nonetheless im probably going to be studying my ass off too…

I actually look forward to those challenges. I would not want to breeze through. Working hard only makes it that much more satisfying  ! Thats why we need to FIGHT ON!

Oh and my gf just told me that her roommates friend who is trying to transfer just got a SGR in the mail today! So thats cool that the process is coming along and we will find out soon if we are getting one. Especially us freshman

@ OOSstudent-- You might miss Seattle but you’ll get over it within a week of moving down! I speak from personal experience, haha. The only part that really sucks is the drive down. The 5 gets so boring. Within 9 months I drove up or down the coast four times. I recommend avoiding that, haha. Stop off in Shasta though and eat at the Black Bear Diner-- so yummy!

Oh and my gf is in Levanthal and she goes to bed around 2 every night and has many all nighters like last night. Kinda scary, but well worth it in the end

Obviously I want to work to get a top grade and learn, but if I get a C in a USC course…goddamn that’ll be the best C I have ever received.

Ahhh the wait is killing me, I want a status update! Send me my SPGR already so I can use it for motivation!

Oh ****!!

@Dainese true on-campus housing is more expensive but my friend mentioned that the on-campus housing includes some sort of meals package so ultimately both on and off campus costs are very similar…correct me if i’m wrong but thats what i heard.

@TheGoldFinch - I’m kinda scared haha…are you?

My biggest concern (and reason why I questioned applying) is that I only took one English writing class. I tested out of the beginner/intro level course because I scored high enough on the writing section of the SAT…do you guys/gals think USC will make a big deal about it? Or perhaps by luck they have a similar program?

@C2H50H(i’m guessing you’re a Bio major? haha) You are only required the upper level English. I’m sure they will put two and two together and realize you tested out of it.

I got so excited I checked my application status right away ahaha

@OOSstudent: Now I’m confused. :\ I’ve talked to the housing department and they told me that the dorm assignment/request portion of the application would be accessible to admitted transfers in June, but it would be through the same application I’ve started.

@ C2H5OH – First off, I love your username, haha. Secondly, I’m a bit scared but I’ve also noticed that the turn around rate on this is pretty quick so hopefully we will hear back in maybe a week or two crosses fingers. I hope this means we might be accepted. I sure hope so. Nerves! As far as your English class, I only took one as well but that’s because I got a 5 on the AP English exam so I automatically got out of Writing I. I wouldn’t worry about that at all.
